I’ve collected some weird vintage bird imagery, from bird hats to bird people, ghost birds to giant birds.
Rest in peace, Jacques Perrin (1941-2022).
Winged Migration (2001) dir. Jacques Perrin
“Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die/Life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly...” (”Dreams” by Langston Hughes) The same is true of hope. The bird, in Central Park’s “The Falconer” sculpture, is healthy:) My message is about migrating birds. During the season of autumn, unusual birds can be spotted in New York City parks. Two outstanding movies come to mind. “Winged Migration” is an amazing documentary about birds in flight. And, from a human perspective, “The Big Year” reveals the joy of birdwatching. “Take these broken wings and learn to fly...” (”Blackbird” by The Beatles) (Photo taken on October 11, 2019)
Inktober 18: Winged Migration (2001) Winged Migration is really breathtaking even in a post Planet Earth world. I get a kick out of Nick Cave sung alongside ducks. 🦆
