This is a story about an expectional friendship made by the love candy canes:
The village was lonely. Everyone was sad tonight. We suffered a big loss. There was a lack of candy canes in the town. Now everyone in the town loved candy canes. It wasn’t just some candy, it was fuel, it was love, it was life for everyone. Everyone including me. My name is Charlie, Charlie the pony. Now I don’t know what they still call me “the pony”, I mean I’m a horse! I’m strong, and handsome. I think. Okay, I’m lying. I’m not. I’m a skinny fellow. But you don’t know that do you? To you, I am the strong, tall, horse with the silky coat. Yes, I am. Now I love candy canes, and I miss them. Like a lot. So I had a “smart” idea. I heard from an elder in the village that there’s a small storage of candy canes about three to five miles away from here. He said if I go there and gather some, and plant the seed of the mother candy cane in the middle of the village, I’ll feed us for centuries. Now in my mind, I had a plan. I felt if I went down there, and brought back the life seed, everyone would stop seeing me as the skinny pony and start calling me that horse, BETTER YET, a stallion. I gathered my things and head off. I was so preoccupied by the things I had in plan, I didn’t hear what else the elder said about the path over there. To this day, I still don’t…
I started off. My parents told me not to, that it’d be dangerous. That I’d never return, but I said no. I keep going forward. I wasn’t sure what I needed for the trip, so the only thing I brought was water and a small book to write what I see. I heard it wouldn’t take long to get there, so I dressed accordingly. I started walking. I felt so free. I was there alone, only me and the rest of nature. I’d been walking for over 30 minutes, and I think I got lost, but I still had the plan in mind. I got lost looking at this world I’d never seen before. Since my parents almost never let me out of the house, even more the village. I can’t see why. Everything was so beautiful. It was so peaceful. The colours in the forest were different. Everything was so green, and alive. Here, these creatures didn’t live off of candy canes like we do, they lived of nuts, and berries, and greens found around them. Oh, my stomach started growling. I needed to stop and get something to eat. At this point, anything could help my hunger.
There was this small cabin a bit far from the path, but still in sight. It was so, abnormal, to me. I didn’t see anyone around it, or in it for the matter, but it looked inhabited, So I waited. For a long time, actually it was like only for ten minutes until someone showed up. It was the oddest creature I’d ever seen in my life. She was light blue. Light blue like the sky in the morning. She had wings too. Her wings sparkled in the wind. They look like they were made of silk. She was a turtle. Beautiful and strange at the same time, one of God’s odd creations I believe. I think I stared at her for a good couple minutes till she yelled at me and threatened to hit me with a stick she had. So I stopped. She asked me who I was and what I wanted. So I told her. Everything. Even about the journey I was on. She stared at me for a while too. Then she said, “You’re a skinny little guy, aren’t ya?” I replied, “yeah?”
She gave me some food. I’d never seen food like that in my life. It was so weird, but it tasted so good. It was this weird round thing that was red. It was really shiny. It didn’t look like something you’d eat though. She told me just to bite it or just eat the whole thing in one bite. I thought she was crazy. I asked her if she had any candy canes. She stared at me again. Her face look confused.
She asked, “what are candy canes?” I was shocked by what my ears were hearing. I couldn’t believe it! She had never heard of candy canes in her life. Now I knew she was crazy. So I had another “smart” idea. I told her, “You don’t know what candy canes are? They are life, and love, and death, and hate all in one. It is the very thing my heart lives for. It’s amazing! It tastes like heaven and smells like flowers that were freshly cut. Looks like wonderland and feels like silk. Candy canes are amazing!” She just stared at me again… “Okay, you don’t understand me. Well how about this. You can come with me on my journey and I’ll let you taste one. Then you can tell me what you think.” She keep staring at me, but finally said, “Sure, why not! I have nothing better to do, and these candy cane things sound interesting.”
“By the way, what is this weird thing I just ate? It was pretty good. What are they called?” I asked her.”
“Apples,” she replied with a smile.
