Ian Brady's mental health advocate quit her charity job in January after allegations she posed as a nurse to get prescription drugs for her partner
Powell, 49, was arrested over claims she had a letter from the Moors Murderer which would locate the body of Keith Bennett
The confidante of Moors murderer Ian Brady quit her job at a respected charity following allegations she posed as a nurse to obtain prescription drugs for her partner.
Jackie Powell, who has acted as a mental health advocate for Brady since 1999, is at the centre of controversy after being arrested over claims she had a letter written by Brady in her possession that could identify the location of his victim Keith Bennett, whose body has never been found.
Now it has emerged Ms Powell, 49, was suspended by mental health charity Eiriol, based in South Wales, last year and was subject to a disciplinary hearing into her ‘inappropriate conduct’. She left Eiriol in January.

Over the past few days people have been asking me my opinion on Ian Brady in general and the recent news stories. To me Ian Brady is fascinating from a professional point of view but also personal. Professionally he is probably by far one of the most intelligent psychopaths ever studied, books such as the Gates of Janus backs this up as well as various interviews, his insight into the mind of someone like himself is extraordinary. Personally my great grandparents met both Ian and Myra when he owned a fish and chip shop in Oldham relatively close to the moors they would both come in together every Friday for tea during and before the murders began they were casual acquaintances and I have always heard my granddad still to this day speak about them on that personal level. Keith Bennett It must have been about 4/5 years ago when I watched a documentary about Winnie Johnsons search for her son Keith and wondered why? Ian Brady would put that poor woman through hell for nearly half a century. I've come to the conclusion that Ian Brady definitely knows where Keiths body is even if people believe he does not or has forgotten. Someone as meticulous as Brady would not forget or would not know. The location of Keiths body was the only power hold Brady had left and being a psychopath meant that he did not care at who's expense that power hold was at, (Winnie's grief and pain). Another 'theory' which I've also heard others suggest is that where Keiths body lies so do other victims and finding Keith would mean finding the others and the last thing Brady would want is another set of trials, there are various missing children and young adults from the surrounding areas around the time Brady and Hindley were active and I am almost certain there are numerous other unknown/unfound victims of the moors murderers. With the recent news of the 'letter' (IF there is one) and the sad coincidence of Winnie's death a lot of people are misinformed on so much. To me Ian Brady's advocate Jackie Powell is a stupid naive woman for having hold of the letter and not passing it on directly to police even if it meant breaking hers and Brady's relationship but looking at that relationship it is a possibility that she has been manipulated by Brady for years because that's simply the person he is, a master of manipulation even he admitted that himself and is proud of his ability to do so. I do believe and hope Keith Bennett will be found one day whether thats through the information Brady has or by chance, it is a shame that he could not be found when Winnie was alive anytime in the last 48 years. Maybe if Brady releases the information before or after his death we may find out what actually happened to Keith all those years ago because everything is still unknown regarding that case unlike the other victims. Brady never struck me as the type of person to take valuable secrets to his grave but looking at the way he has been treated (Whether you see that as fair or not) over the last few years he may out of bitterness decide to do so. Brady is not someone you could win a battle of wills with easily. Right to die? Ian Bradys human rights have been being breached since 1985. He was moved to Ashworth secure hospital under the pretence that he was mentally ill. This was never the case whether Brady orchestrated the faked mental illness or professionals had motives of their own for wanting him transferred either way after it was made known that he suffered no mental illness and was just a diagnosed psychopath he should have been moved back into prison like he wanted to be. He started his longest lasting hunger strike in 1999, in protest of the conditions he was under in Ashworth hospital and how he was being treated, not long after started to be force fed through a tube which has been done for the last 13 years. Again breaching his human rights, he is still not diagnosed with any mentally illness yet he remains in a secure hospital having decisions made for him as if he were. My opinion? Ian Brady now has the right to die if he chooses. As does anyone who is of sound mind and can make decisions for themselves.
RIP Winnie Johnson.
I hope you find peace wherever you are now.
R.I.P Winnie Johnson
Mother of one of the Moors Murders' victim Winnie Johnson has sadly passed away. She dies never knowing where her son, Keith Bennett, was buried after he was murdered at the innocent age of 12. His killer, Ian Brady has yet to reveal where he buried his victim, a secret some suspect he will take to his grave.
It is a shame that any mother out lives her child, but it is a travesty that after that Winnie Johnson still died having never laid her child to rest.
Rest in peace Winnie Johnson and little Keith Bennett, wherever he may be.
This woman is Winnie Johnson.
In 1964, on the 16th June, Winnie's 12 year old son Keith Johnson was travelling to his grandmother's house when he was abducted and murdered by notorious child killers Ian Brady and Myra Hindley.
As well as Keith being a victim, four other children and teenagers were abducted and murdered by the couple but, unlike the others, Keith's body was never found. Numerous searches on the Saddleworth Moor have been conducted, but unfortunately his body remained missing. Winnie even wrote letters to Ian Brady begging for him to reveal where her son was buried, but as a result of the twisted mind of Brady, he never did.
But Winnie never gave up hope that someday, although she knew her son was long gone, that she would finally have closure and be able to bring him home, to give him the Christian burial he deserved.
For 48 years she still clung onto that hope, that she would be reunited with him before her own death. Unfortunately that didn't happen.
On the 18th August 2012, Winnie died after a long battle with bowel cancer, but not once did she give up.
What is even more sad is that just the day before her death, Winnie was told that Ian Brady had possibly given information to the whereabouts of Keith's grave to a confidant. Whether this is true, remains to be seen.
Winnie Johnson was a woman who showed that despite her own personal pain, she was also a picture of determination, love and commitment.
It is unfortunate that she died before she could see her search complete, but hopefully she has now found peace and has been reunited with her son, Keith.
R.I.P. Winnie Johnson.
RIP Winnie Johnson. It is heartbreaking that you never found your son.
