Danish artist Winnie Raeder shares new single ‘A Quiet Way'
Winnie Raeder is sharing her new single ‘A Quiet Way’. The sublime new track follows the recent well-received single ‘Baby’.
Released in February, ‘Baby’ was Winnie’s first self-produced piece of work and ‘A Quiet Way’ sees her follow suite, piecing together a stark, ethereal dream-pop sound that comprises soft piano, Winnie’s powerful, compelling vocals that are drenched in reverb and experiments with off-kilter, atmospheric electronics. She says of the new single: “‘A Quiet Way’ is really about the admiration and gratitude you can have for someone that’s been a part of your life at some point. It’s paying your respects to someone you hold a great amount of love for, without projecting any desires onto them.”
Even more poignant in the strange, isolated times we currently find ourselves in, Winnie continues: “I guess it really came from the thought that some people will just have an everlasting impact on us somehow, even when they’re not actively a part of our lives anymore. And I think that’s lovely. It’s connection without being connected somehow: ‘How is it that you remind me, of every memory I have?’”
"The paper moon I made for you to keep dear,
Until I'll find a way that I can take you there,
If I could I would I'd build a rocketship,
To gather all the stars and fill your pocket."
