HAPPY 5TH ANIVERSERY THSC GUESS WHO'S DRAWING ANYTHING BUT THAAAAAAT~

Guys, please send help this has been the only thing I've been thinking about for the last week.

Also sorry for the blurriness of the image on the right, I didn't realize how small I drew it until it exported 💀💀💀

Me when I actually decide to flesh out everyone else in this AU rather than just hyperfixate on Rupert (which I am still doing btw if I am drawing, he will be there). We got some fun things, like some of Rykor's "loyalists"! I put loyalists in quotations because even those people are split on why they follow their leader. One half of them were people who were wronged, framed, or shunned that found refuge in the clan. The other half was people who saw Rykor's ability to maintain a tyrannical, yet somewhat successful rule with ease and felt compelled to follow him, and those people kinda work as secret police against runaway Toppats.

Two members of this that I wanted to showcase are Winston Davis and Henry Stickman. These two were some of the first people to truly befriend Rykor and become loyalists.

Wiston found Rykor brooding and decided to join him. They somewhat bond over their experiences with Henry and being wronged by him in more ways than one, with Rupert letting it slip that he's actually trying to take down the Toppats. Winston is nervous about this, but Rupert wins him over by sharing that he will help him be pardoned of all his charges if he helps him out. He accepts this proposition and becomes one of his "manditory reporters". He's also one of the loyalists to try and split from Rykor once he starts to properly loose it and kill everyone who's ever been associated with the clan, current, past, or by association.

Henry Stickman, on the other hand, was personally picked out by Rykor because of his hard-working attitude. He would consistently go on missions and would always be the one reporting "Henry Sympathizers" to Dave, who would in turn bring his concerns to Rykor. Rykor then spoke with him personally, learning about him constantly taking the fall for Henry unintentionally, to which they bond. Stickman then becomes one of the "elites", and he finally gets the respect and recognition he's always wanted. He's a bit more okay with the killing aspect of Rykor's plans, but only with people who actually liked Henry. He is not aware of Rykor's plans to take down the clan.

As for the fluff, it was a hypothetical post-scene of Ellie and Dave being cute and wholesome n stuff after the horrors on the Orbital Station. Ellie brings safety and comfort and love back into Dave's life, especially with what happened on the station with the Toppats... and Rykor. Which we will get to later.

What can I say, sometimes my cold dark twisted heart needs something nice to look at.

But enough of that, back to my favorite.

This was kind of a "lets understand where Rupert is mentally" study, so if you wanna know why I draw his eyes the ways that I do in this AU, here's the pamphlet.

PANRPICE BUT EEEEEEEEVAIILLLLLLLLLLL

Yeah so uh, they are.... REALLY TOXIC in this. Dave is holding onto any essence of Rykor still being his old Rupert self and fighting tooth and nail to bring him back to his senses. He does whatever Rykor says because he believes it all comes from good faith, even to the point of forcing himself to. Eventually, when Ellie and her gang reach out to him, he realizes just how separated Rupert and Rykor are. He agrees to help them take Rykor down, but at the promise of not killing him. Maybe if he's vulnerable but granted mercy, he'll listen and step down on his own.

Rykor, on the other hand, is using Dave's trauma to justify why imprisonment is not a good enough punishment for the Toppats. In his mind, not only did they kidnap a civilian, but they tortured him endlessly the entire time with injuries and isolation. Is that really a good enough reason to kill anyone who's uttered the word "Toppat" in any positive manner? No. But if you spin it right it can be, and that's what he does. He knows that Dave has a kind heart, waaaay kinder than his, so he sort of uses Dave to be a "friendly face" while he calls all the shots.

He knows Dave hates this, and he feels slightly bad about it, but when push comes to shove, it's a job that needs to be done.

And Rupert never half-asses a job. Not anymore.

Rupert: What tha FUCK were ya thinkin', Rupert? Rykor Profit, Supreme King of tha Toppats?! That was so STUPID! YUR' so STUPID! I just wanted t' settle tha score! I HATE these RATS I need ta GET OUT- "Henry": OH. DON'T BE LIKE THAT~ YOU'VE HARDLY WON! THE CLAN'S STILL UP N' RUNNIN'. IT'S NOT LIKE YOU TO LEAVE A HALF-ASSED JOB. Rupert: ... No. "Henry": JUST LEAD THEM TO THEIR END. AFTER ALL, EVERYONE TRUSTS DOGS, RIGHT?? Rupert: ... No....

Silly comic about Rupert's first mental break. He... doesn't take it very well. I also want it to be ABUNDANTLY clear that Henry is a figment of Rupert's imagination and not actually a ghost following him around and constantly making him doubt himself (he's already doing that on his own🫶).

Dave: Why are you so determined to do this!? No one is telling you to do this! Why do you need to be in control- Rykor: Because, Dear Dave... If I'm not in control, SOMEONE ELSE will be. AND I WILL NEVER LET ANYONE CONTROL MY LIFE AGAIN.

Another silly comic exploring Dave attempt and failure to reach Rupert. Th poor guy is so sure of himself that he doesn't realize that his actions are influenced by his own paranoia. I love lacking self-reflection.

Ya'll ever wonder where did Ted ever go? Because we saw Winston in Infiltrating the Airship but never saw where Ted went outside of the Museum when we saw more of Dave. I think I'm really just curious because Ted's thing was never really wrapped up? Kind of like Dave for pretty much all routes aside from maybe TCW or R (dead). It just feels like we should've seen him at least one more time.

Side note that is more like a fun fact: Theirs a character in the Toppat Clan that actually gets a surprising amount of reappearances through the games. That being Wilhelm Krieghaus (the bone melt guy from that one route of ItA), he reappears in Fleeing the Complex, being apart of the rescue team for Henry down the Betrayed path. And reappeared in the Jewel Baron route in the lounge with RHM.

I just think its neat that specific background characters kept coming back.
