#winter break?

idk whyyyyyy I have to work at the library OVER WINTER BREAK! This HAS to be breaking some kind of child labor law!!!

There may be an upside to this indentured servitude tho..... I told my mom that I’m working at the library, but I told her I would be there longer than I actually am *GASP* (I might be getting TOO comfortable lying to my mom...)

Anyways this lil’ lie means I can spend some time James without my mom being suspicious of my whereabouts! ＼(＾▽＾)／ We’re planning on hanging out sometime after Christmas (we’ve been gmailing cuz he doesn’t have any social media, he would get along great with Ana LOL!!). He invited me to go out for coffee, which is exciting but also scary cuz that feels so DATE-Y AHHHHHHHHHHHH

But it’s cool. I’m cool. It ain’t no big thang...

Headline: Teacher's vacation days spent working (oh, wait, that's not really breaking news...)

It always feels funny when my non-teacher friends talk about how great it is that I have a two-week vacation around Christmas. Technically, I did, but the only days I didn't spend working on something teaching-related (lesson planning, catching up on emails, grading assignments, compiling information to prove that I'm meeting my standards and that my students are meeting theirs, etc.) were December 24th-December 28th. This, if I remember correctly, was shorter than most of my non-teacher friends' vacations, and they don't have homework ;) Tragically, there's just always too much to do for me to stop when I actually get a break; it's merely a chance to finally catch up! (And I am grateful for it!)

That said, I also do feel for those who deal with emergencies (cops, firefighters, doctors, nurses, EMTs), people in the hospitality industry, and other jobs where people typically work through Christmas and New Year's Day altogether. As a kid, we never spent a Christmas together with my dad, so I do get that there are some jobs that never stop for holidays.

I might be visiting for winter break! I'm so happy. I haven't seen my cousin's since Summer 2010. I miss all of them. I wanna take pictures with them and do everything with them. I miss the fresh air and the smell of the trees. I wanna sit by fire side with my favorite cousin and just talk about our life and take pictures with her. We'll go to the mall and go in a photo booth. Yeah, we'll just have a wonderful time. (:
