Coming out of Winter break like:
Got over 95% on both my aural and written theory finals. I was super nervous because I always feel like I don’t understand what we’re learning but then I get As on all the exams, so maybe I shouldn’t stress as much😅
“Hello to all you amazing Guardians! It’s been some time since I’ve updated my blog... sorry about that. But it’s great to be back. I was just alittle busy helping my guardian over last quarter with her classes. I hope you are all doing well.”- Light

officially on spring break and I am so excited to be! this last quarter really flew by. I’m eager to get back into the grind but first ready to plan, organize, & prepare.
【COUNSELING THEORIES CLASS - FIRST DAY OF WINTER QUARTER】
■ 01.10.18. // (もくようび )
̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ Monday was my first day of class for the winter quarter. I felt good about going. I wasn’t very nervous (thank you anxiety medication), and I didn’t have to go through my usual ritual of making everything perfect. My nails weren’t painted, I hadn’t taken a long bath or shaved or any of the obsessive things I normally have to do before a big social event. I didn’t even plan out my outfit or meal the night before (wouldn’t recommend that, lol). It was good though, I feel like I’ve had better control of my anxiety, and the anxious things I do that take too much time out of my day. Things that don’t matter, and ultimately don’t benefit me... I wore a plaid skirt, a collared flower shirt, a soft fawn colored cardigan, and my new little porcelain tiger necklace. Felt very mori girl. 😊🌱 🌳 🍂🌲
Class was great (this was the Counseling Theories class). I liked the professor. She seems a little scattered, but very insightful and wise, like the sort of person some people might expect to be off in her own world, but when she finally gets down to business she’s actually very ON IT. My class was all women, no men. That hasn’t happened to far, but there’s so many women at my school (and in this profession), it’s no shock.
I knew one girl in my class from last semester, we’ve only spoken to each other once though, so hopefully I can get to know her better (she seems nice, and is also interested in trauma therapy). My partner for the group work also seems nice. She had a cute planner, lol, so I think we’ll have some stuff in common. We went over all the assignments and the syllabus. It sounds like a pretty tough course. I had a hard time understanding what exactly we’ll be doing, but it helped to go through the syllabus once I got home. I think I get it now?
I think the main bulk of the assignments are centered around keeping a booklet of information that we have to compile from lectures and readings. We turn that in at some point. She said it can be messy and customized, it just has to be filled. Another big assignment is a film critique. I think we do these throughout the course, but there’s one big one that we’ll do at the end of the quarter with our partners (I think?). You’re given a mock case study and you have to do a bunch of analysis on it. I think there’s a paper involved. We also have to pinpoint our chosen theoretical orientation. This is all intermixed with learning about theories of course. So far the textbook (I haven’t gotten very far) is focused on the history of the field, which I LOVE because I really learn better when I have a background for context. I think that’s the main point of the class, providing context for everything we learn in the program. This course is part 1 of 2.
I’ll make a separate entry for my other class, which I went to yesterday.
After class, Trev and I went home together since it was pretty late. We went out to dinner at a restaurant we hadn’t been to before.
(I’m going to try to start keeping a more detailed account of my days since my Ethics professor suggested we keep a journal. If stuff is starting to get too personal, I might have to move that over to a private blog, but for now I wanted to use this as an excuse to keep up with my blog better. Hopefully I can do a better job documenting my grad school experience in this way!)
天気 (weather):⛅ Sunny and cloudy, it’ll probably rain later though
気分 (feeling): 🙂 Happy. Feeling motivated and ready to take this all more seriously.
