Here's what we have in store for Thursday night's Salon at Pacific Cafe (10874 97 Street). >##Gene Kosowan >Gene Kosowan is a writer, editor and sound artist whose work has run at such festivals as The Works, Kaleido Family Festival, Edmonton New Music Festival, Sasquatch Gathering and Sea of Sound. Collaborators include flutists Bill Damur and Marion Garver Fredrickson, clarinetist Don Ross and Pro Coro soprano Catherine Kubash. >Gene will create a melodic and ambient soundscape that addresses the light, wind, and cold/warmth themes of winter, that reflects the hardy attitudes of Edmontonians who not only adapt to the harsh elements of the season, but convert them into a more engaging atmosphere in which to live, work and – most importantly -- play. >##Zach Polis & Theodore Fox: Dream Machine Divergence Test. >The premise of our poetic entertainment is simple. Zach and Theo are stuck in hibernation. Their minds and bodies are sleepy. By using the dream machine divergence test they will wake up their minds to the vital and frisky possibilities of winter existence. There will be surprise, novelty, and new patterns of thinking for your brain's enjoyment. >Zachary Polis has a single mission as an artist and that is to excite the brain juices in your head and the blood in your body. He’d like to tickle your frontal lobe. Will you let him touch it? He does not use anesthetics. He does not use sharp scalpels either. Sometimes words hurt but Zach is a master surgeon. Zach has read poetry at the CBC Centre Stage for the Edmonton Poetry Festival and for the Poetry Project in New York City and many places in between the two. >Theodore Fox lives in a basement in Edmonton and writes poems. When not writing he is cooking or sitting or staring or something like that. Fox is particularly interested in making lots of friends with lots of words and the people who use them. People who are like you, probably. >##SingKronosCities (Phillip Jagger & Scarlett Eyben) >Singkronoscities is the working title of the collective run by Scarlett Eyben and Philip Jagger. Scarlett though new to the poetry scene,enjoys reading and finding new ways to express herself. She is also a talented photographer and videographer. Philip Jagger is not new to Edmontons poetry and performance art scene.He has performed for the first Visualeyez, with SingkronosCities collective, and has performed for Beams at The Works with agaperaygunexperiment for a number of years. >SingKronosCities will be creating a tale around where narrative, music and visuals will flow, change and morph. >##Mary Pinkoski >Mary Pinkoski is an award-winning spoken word poet from Edmonton. Mary has presented her unique blend of spoken word and storytelling throughout North America. In 2011 at the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word she was voted Most Valuable Poet and was Captain of the Edmonton Poetry Slam Team, which won the National Championship. >Mary will be performing a spoken word poetry set based around the theme of light. >##Paula Kirman >Paula Eve Kirman is a multi-media artist who has been active in Edmonton's inner city through her writing, photography, activism, and music. She writes and performs songs with social significance at festivals, events, and rallies - in all weather. Join us on Thursday at 7!
