Winter’s Gone
The cold, frigid freeze
Of her words could cut
Deep into vibrant souls
Some would let it frost away
Others have kept the frost
Still knotted into their skin
Oh but winter was never for
The mere frost burn on the
World’s imperious face
No, winter was born for
More perfect beings
She had no fitting tolerance
For the lame ducks and birds
Fleeting away and never returning
For hollow stones and trees
With no essence, no purpose
No, winter was cold
For nature was cruel
Bitterness made it ugly
Winter demanded life
Life from the living
So she gave them
A nip of death at their heels
And now winter is gone
She left as they grew
They evolved out of her
Because they reviled
Her harsh winds and words
While they celebrated the sun
I searched for snow and ice
All I found was cold, frigid water
