This week marks the beginning of Americana Week in NYC. For a brief time, attention shifts from contemporary and modern art and design to more traditional versions along with a American antiques and furniture. Anyone interested will find numerous fairs , lectures and auction with so much to learn. We use the time to refocus and appreciate art and artists who are overlooked in today's hyper-contemporary market. One of our favorite artists is Leon Dabo, a student of Whistler, who originally painted as a tonality. He also painted sublime florals highly influenced by the French symbolist painter Odilon Redon.
