Suzy overeats a LOT, frostbitten are ravenous so they often keep eating long past being full. This usually leads to her throwing up which she happily laps right back up!

2. I've mentioned this before but Snowpeople will use their long tongues to um...get their food back if a Frostbitten steals their kill, whether agressively or their partner playfully taking a bite.

3. Winterbeings smell really really bad the moment they come close to even slightly melting levels of heat. Ice absorbs odors and they're surrounded with the stench of death and all the things that happen around corpses. There are probably Winterbeings out there who can make you pass out by breathing in your face like a fucking cartoon. 2025 Edit: I've changed my mind on number 3 slightly, it just takes a bit more extreme heat to get them to really stink now, for the sake of everyone ELSE lol

I like to think that Suzy has this kind of mitten shaped thing she fills with ice and puts on some of the kids backs when they have trouble sleeping so it feels like their Daddy is holding them all night to comfort them

ok so this ask popped into my mind and im super curious. so, snowpeople's eyes are literally rocks right (or whatever else they stick there heheh) so... how do glasses work? like jane & joel both have glasses, are they just like an accessory or do they need them in order to see??

Yeah I mean I guess she'd have to. Winterbeings don't have other *bodily secretions* besides sweat, semen and well blood but they expel waste in other ways.

I think Frostbitten afabs would have regular human menstruation while afab Snowpeople, since they're all hermpahroditic and being afab really only refers to which secondary sex characteristics/hormones their bodies lean towards having more of, would just have the hormonal aspects of a period.

All that aside imagine how fucking funny this is in context.

Why Do The Snowballs Melt When Snowpeople Don't

I got asked this and I thought I'd explain broadly to everyone. I'm not a scientist and this is mostly for story purposes because imo if the snowballs were kept alive areas would be overrun very quickly as snowciety grows, since many winterbeings turn to snowballs on purpose in the face of infertility.

The way that I explain it in universe is that alone, snowballs are merely simulacrum of the snowperson they came from. Think about how irl kids that have a lot of the same dna (ex. incest babies) are more likely to be sick, well these babies only have HALF dna and it's all entirely from one person. Not only are they doomed from the start but they're entirely unstable.

This is also why the thing that merely temporarily destablized Jack (potassium) hurt and killed them the same way a fatal injury would on a normal person.

I have it so that when matieral from another winterbeing is introduced (hair, blood, etc.) on purpose or on accident, the snowball rapidly takes on half of that dna. The process them becomes the same as the development of any baby, just much faster to survive outside of the womb.

Winterbeing Illnesses: Casefile 5

Illness: Chronic Crystal Atrophy

Target: All Winterbeings

Symptoms: Symptoms are similar but slightly different between Frostbitten and Snowpeople.

For Frostbitten the condition manifests on the outer skin, lacerations are deeper and take longer than normal in order to heal. They are at higher risk for winterbeing illnesses that stem from infection but with their status as corpses those conditions cannot be fatal. In severe cases the icy skin cracks near daily with strenuous activity and accidental bumps and bruises. The sensitivity in addition to the slow, and often improper, healing can require a patient to permanently use forearm crutches or even a wheelchair.

For Snowpeople the condition manifests internally, externally in certain circumstances like the creation of ice constructs attatched to the body. Otherwise the layer of ice inside that protects a snowperson's organs will crack, just as pertains to frostbitten, with strenuous activity and accidental bumps and bruises. The ice layer of a snowperson is usually thicker than a frostbittens but the lacerations are still deeply painful and can even be severely dangerous if a shard ends up puncturing organs, in addition to this the ice layer of these snowpeople are thinner than average. Despite a snowperson being able to mold and shape their forms as they wish these patients may also require forearm crutches or a wheelchair.

Cause: There's no real cause it's simply a genetic condition.

Treatment: Having the patient ingest substances that increase the rate of freezing can help overtime but otherwise the condition can only be managed not cured. Pain medications can also be helpful.

Winterbeing Illnesses: Casefile 4

Illness: Subcutaneous Crystalization

Target: Frostbitten Only

Symptoms: Clusters of ice form under muscular structures, making it harder for a frostbitten to move those parts of their body, not to mention painful. Sore muscles, stiffness, and restlessness usually show up before the clusters develop.

If left untreated the crystals will break through the skin. At best, the area will get infected. At worst, also concerning placement, a limb can be rendered useless and need to be amputated.

Cause: Overworking any area of the body, usually through exercise or intense physical activity without proper precaution and rest.

Treatment: Rest, safely monitored warm baths to melt ice crystals, massaging of affected areas, and stretching.

Illness: Waterlog

Target: Frostbitten Only

Symptoms: Bloating, Excessive sweating, Adipocere pimples and/or abscess, blistering, pains in the hands and feet, discoloration of the skin

Cause: Spending too much time in a hot and humid climate, causing the frostbitten to retain too much moisture.

Treatment: Ice baths, hydration, wound drainage, and lots and lots of rest.
