1. What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?

Oh no. Honestly, Kakashi and Yamato. I just. I don’t get it. I guess I do “get it” in that they’re two men who talk to each other, but I really don’t get it in terms of personality. They’ll trauma bond, definitely, but learn to be happy? I don’t see it.

3. Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion?

Oh, it’s like you know me. I enjoy age-gap ships. Of course I’ve unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion. And this whole beef with purity culture resurfacing?? Miss me with that shit, I don’t have the time for it. Unfollow, move on, don’t second guess. It makes my dash much better.

4. Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?

Yes, I sure do! And yes they sure are! I mentioned Kakashi and Yamato, but there’s also Kakashi and Gai, and Madara and Hashirama, and Naruto and Sakura, and canon anything. If it was done in canon, that. However canon did it. A canon ship that’s been redone and fixed? Yeah, I can get behind that. A ship as they appear in canon? NOPE.

5. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?

Oh, of course! The SNS fandom overall hates Sakura to such an extent that I literally have no reason to deal with them. I used to wander in there every once in a while, not anymore and not for a while. No, thank you. Maybe it’s changed, maybe it hasn’t, I have no interest in seeing. Pieces of the Kakashi and Gai fandom have also ruined that ship for me. I don’t ship it to begin with, but the overall superiority complex you can find in that fandom hammered in that final nail in the coffin. I have no interest in exploring that one ever again.

13. Unpopular opinion about XXX character? - Sakura

I have A Lot, but I’ll narrow it down to one -- which is hard because I don’t view them as opinions when it’s proven in canon? :D

She’d make the better Hokage. I don’t know that people would argue this? Maybe it’s not unpopular, but out of her team, she’s absolutely the best prepared. She has more political experience, she’s the better rounded shinobi out of all of them, she’s the smartest, and she has the best relationship with other nations.

22. Popular character you hate?

Gaara. Crazy unpopular opinion with this one, but I’m not a fan at all. I like him more the older he gets, but I just feel like canon dropped the ball on what he could have been.

23. Unpopular character you love?

Jiraiya and Sakura. I’ve found that the parts of fandom that love Jiraiya hate Sakura and the parts that love Sakura hate Jiraiya and I fucking love them both. I experienced a lot of hesitance and doubt when I started that small stint on my Jiraiya blog, it was amusing to watch!

2. What’s your least favourite thing you wrote this year?

This was hard! It’s Show Me Your Hand and I hate saying that. It was inspired by a comic and I love the scene, but when I reread it I’m aware it’s not mine. And it wasn’t supposed to be! I don’t love it less because it’s based on someone else’s comic and uses someone else’s words -- it just means that out of everything I’ve written this year, this is on the bottom.

I was definitely inspired, I’m glad I wrote it, I love the small exploration, but yeah, it’s my least favorite. It leaves me wanting to write something InuParents that’s full Nikki. Which might not fit the fandom, but when have I ever cared about that?

5. Which of your fics do you wish was more successful?

This question bummed me out. I went looking at my fics and compared stats and didn’t like what I found at all. Least viewed fic (written and posted in 2020) rated high in stats; most viewed fic rated lowest across all for interaction. I hate looking at stats because I always feel like this. Can I get off this ride? 😂

Okay, but for real -- Legend of Illethai Mobre. Why? Because I’m currently writing it, so I’m currently focused on that, and it always feels like a fic isn’t successful while I’m writing and actively posting it. I know it is, I know it rates decently in terms of stats, I just wish it were more successful because I’m putting a shit ton of work into it and am always stuck in the ‘there’s never enough feedback’ loop. I work through this issue and am usually really good about keeping myself mentally healthy when regarding reader interaction, but it is there and I am human enough to admit it.

9. If you could go back and change something about one of the fics you wrote this year, what would it be?

Ooooooo this is a really neat question!!

I would seriously change up the chapter breaks for What Could Have Been. I panic posted with the first chapter because it was a Secret Santa gift and I was cutting the deadline really close, but had I known what it would turn into, I would have cut the chapter after Kagome tried to jump through the well.

That entire scene after would have been the start of Chapter 2 and I would have fleshed out what happened a little more. Which then would have changed the pacing for Chapter 2 and the end of what is currently Ch 2 would probably be the end of a Chapter 3.

It’s okay. I’m okay with it. I still love it how it is. But I would adjust that in an instant if I could redo the posting of that.

10. What, if anything, are you going to try to do differently in your writing in the new year?

But since I’ve given other runner ups, here’s another goal:

I want to dip back into other ships/fandoms. Not completely, I love the kogkag corner I’ve carved out and I want to continue producing content, but it would be interesting to revisit some previous interests. Maybe try a new fandom completely? I’m still unsure of that one, but I do want to stretch my wings again.

I have someone cheering for me to write original fic again. That’s a constant wave for me and maybe I would want to give it a shot. Start small? I’m too unsure of that one to say it’s a definite that I’m going to try, but it’s been on my mind enough for me to want to mention it.
