this is the technique i use on most of my caps. i've been more into natural colors lately, so i use a lot of curves,  hue/saturation and vibrance and sometimes selective coloring or color balance if i want to bring up some colors.

1. gradient map, opacity 5% (or more, depends of the darkness of a cap)

2. hue/saturation from +20 to +30

3. Curves

4. more curves! opacity 73%

5. Vibrance

6. Brightness/Contrast

7. Selective coloring

8. more curves!

9. even more curves yay! opacity 23% 

10. we almost there, another curves layer, opacity 17%, soft light.

11. the last curves layer, opacity 63%

12. and finally, add some vibrance to this baby. opacity 70%

 And we're done!
