Random Winteriron prompt #003
After his mind has been scrubbed clean - of the triggers, of the horrors, of the Soldier - Steve asks, heart full and hopeful, "How do you feel?"
Bucky blinks dully. "Empty."
-
Tony doesn't know that there's only Bucky now. He couldn't have known. But the words cut and cut and cut.
Everything is laid out, laid bare; flayed open wide, insides exposed: Every death, every bullet, every bone he's ever cracked, every drop of blood he's ever spilled, every swipe of his knife.
Even Steve can't stop it; even Steve can't make it stop.
It's the truth. All Tony has is the truth, and Bucky envies him for it.
He's angry. He's vicious. He's hurt. He's hurting.
And it's cruel, Bucky knows it.
He's already taken Tony's parents, it isn't fair to take his grief too.
