Hey, so I was just creeping on your blog and I really do love your theme and I saw that you self taught yourself html/css codes. I was wondering if you could possibly give me any advice or tips on html/css codes to make my own theme because I such at it and I never know where to start when it comes down to making themes for a tumblr blog T^T

I've been messing with HTML since I was 12, so let me just say that right away. However, I didn't start making my own things from scratch until October 2012, simply because I just didn't bother to really study the language before then.

The internet is a great place to start. Codecacademy is a good site to learn and practice at, I study coding in college and this site is advised by my teachers all the time. However even with the help of this site, it all comes down to practising.

Studying this Tumblr page is also a good idea, since it shows the variables used to render certain things, like your blog's posts, page navigation, and so forth. I do advise you study HTML/CSS as it is, don't just learn the things you need to make a specific Tumblr layout. It's a good idea to just broaden it so you are more skilled and can create more complex things.

Once you got a basic knowledge of HTML and CSS, like, you think you can handle making something simple, go do that. It doesn't have to be your best work right away. Just keep making things until you can do it blind and don't have to think about it or google what the CSS code for this or that was. Though Googling is not bad, but it's a good thing if you know most codes required to make a good layout. It's all kinda like learning a new language, except you'll probably master this quicker than a new language.

Coding is definitely not for everyone; it really requires a lot of patience, trial and error, etc. You're definitely going to scream at some point looking for a mistake in your codes and then realize you just forgot a fucking semi-colon. Just try it out I'm sure you'll figure it all out.
