Day 2 of #wintersolsticechallenge ~ Winter Legend: la Samblana. ~~~ Samblana was an ancient princess of the “Bedoyeres” (the People of the Birches). She was beautiful and very ambitious, and each winter she had a white voile dress sewn for her, which grew broader and shinier every year and still she wasn’t content. Her people rose up and locked her in the barren land of Noefes. There, the snow covered the long train of her dress, freezing her in place, and she started to feel sorry for her deeds. One day, two small girls came to her, claiming they want to help her lift the train. Samblana cheered herself up in their company, and as time went by, more young girls arrived (the myth says these were the souls of undesired children who were abandoned by their mothers or likewise exposed by midwives) until they managed to free Samblana and let her fly from mountain to mountain.
