Fury! But Tecna's Bonded Pixie is Zing instead of Digit: Part 2
“Hi Pixies. How is… how is Zing?” Flora asked.
Lockette sighed sadly “Poor thing’s still pretty upset. She hasn’t come out since last night.”
The other Winx gave each other a shared look of concern. After Faragonda had saved them and they’d teleported out of Cloud Tower, the Pixies had immediately told them of Zing’s attempted murder of Valtor, which she’d done before the Girls had even found Valtor. The Winx and Specialists (once they got word) had been quite shocked.
“Zing was always the most reckless out of the Pixies.” Aisha said. “But I never thought she’d try to kill someone. Even if Valtor deserved it.”
“Well I’d say she had the right idea!” Stella harrumphed. “If I were there, I’d have teleported him to the sun with my ring!”
“Yes, but Amore is right.” Flora put in gently. “Zing shouldn’t resort to murder. We only wanted to fight back against him.”
Stella sighed. She knew her bonded pixie had a point, but a part of her wished that Zing had gone through with it.
“I told her it wasn’t very ladylike to kill someone,” Tune huffed haughtily. “But she told me that I would do the same if it was Musa who died.”
Musa gently cupped the Pixie of Manners in her hands. “Would you really do that for me, Tune?”
Tune bit her lip and hung her head. “I admittedly would.”
“Is anyone going to see if she’s alright?” Flora asked.
“We tried.” Chatta said, looking downcast for once. “She just told us to go away.”
“Logically, she wouldn’t want to talk after you stopped her.”
Everyone turned to see Timmy poking his head through the door of the living room dorm.
“Judging from what you said, she’s too caught up in murder to even see you right now. Don’t worry though. I’ll have a word with her.”
“Good luck.” muttered Digit. “Last time I saw her, she was throwing darts.”
Timmy grimaced at the description and went over to Tecna and Musa’s door. Already, he was hearing some muttering from behind.
“Stupid Valtor….. could’ve gotten you right then and there…. then I was stopped…”
The specialist sighed and gently pushed open the door…
And was almost impaled by wasp darts.
He let out a gasp of terror, causing the Pixie of Bugs to turn sharply. This particular cosplay she was wearing was Dark Willow, complete with the scars and black eyes.
“Oh, it’s just you Timmy.” Zing grumbled. “What do you want?”
“I just wanted to see if you were doing okay.” Timmy explained as he walked over and sat down on Tecna’s bed. “
“Oh it’s all fine and dandy. Just that Valtor is still living…” Zing fluttered over and plucked the darts out of the wall. “Somehow…”
Timmy frowned. He knew that Zing was known to be the most aggressive out of the pixies but he didn’t think she’d resort to murder.
“Listen Zing, I get you’re feeling mad.” He said quietly. “Believe me, I completely understand. But murder really isn’t the right response. Especially when there’s no need to.”
Zing stared at him as if he’d told her that a cockroach was a butterfly. “What are you on about?”
“Well, from what Aisha has said, a pixie’s bond with a fairy is unbreakable. If one was hurt, the other one would feel it through the bond right?”
Zing deadpanned. “Bored now.”
THUNK.
Another dart hit the wall.
Timmy ignored the sign of rudeness.
“If Tecna was dead, would you not have sensed that or felt the bond break?”
For the first time that night, Zing paused. Suddenly the little whirlwind of murderous thoughts seemed to settle down as she considered Timmy’s words. The Pixie of Bugs may be reckless but she wasn’t without giving a thought to something, even if her mind was made up about something.
She turned to Timmy, her black eyes starting to lose the darkness. “What are you saying?”
Timmy smiled ruefully. “I’m saying unless your bond with Tecna was a fluke-and 100% likely it isn’t- if you didn’t feel something after she fell in the portal, I think Tecna is still alive.”
Zing’s fists clenched in disbelief as her eyes started to mist over.
“I-it can’t be!” She sniffed. “The Winx saw… what happened to her! V-valtor himself said she cou’nt have survived…”
Tears started pooling up and rolling down her cheeks as her voice started to wobble.
“You wouldn’t get how I feel… I’ve always been the pixie up for a f-fight… a-always the one t-to lead… but when t-the others said Tecna was dead… I-I felt helpless Timmy! I-I couldn’t protect Tecna at Cloud Tower and I couldn’t protect her now! This fight, is the only one I can’t resolve…!”
She weakly punched Timmy’s shoulder.
“You’re lying… you’re lying!” Zing sobbed, now back to her regular attire.
And all Timmy could do was cup the Pixie of Bugs in his hands and silently rub at her back with his thumb as she curled up on his palm and sobbed her little heart out.
