Ray finds herself in a strange form of darkness; she questions if she’s dead, not able to move or really see. She is able to hear something, however; the sound of distance voices and sounds, some happy and lighthearted and others upset and in pain. One male voice is loud and clear at one point, asking someone named Hailey what’s going on. It’s all very strange. Eventually, Ray feels herself beginning to wake up; at the same time, she also feels as if she can’t breathe and begins to struggle…
The redhead drops from the ceiling in a large glob of ink, landing on the floor with a hard splat. She groans in pain and coughs hard while slowly picking herself up; looking around, she finds herself in another part of the studio, farther down and with more of that ink staining the floor and walls. She carefully gets back on her feet, trying to figure out what happened through her throbbing headache. The building had begun flooding, the floor had collapsed and…someone had knocked her in.
Ray moves to get a better look at her surroundings; as she does, she fails to notice something peek up through a nearby puddle; it retreats when she turns around at the feeling of eyes on her. Facing forward again, she’s shocked to find Jack suddenly ‘standing’ in front of her. She instinctively gasps and scrambles back from the inky blob of a man.
Jack doesn’t attack, only groans and looks back at her with intrigue. They spend a couple moments just staring at one another before Jack turns and starts removing something from his back; it turns out to be Ray’s backpack, now stained and a bit torn up from her initial fall. He holds it out for her to take it back. Ray hesitates, confused on top of scared. Cautiously, she comes up to him again and gently takes her bag back; she gives him a timid “Th-Thank you…”
Keeping Jack in her line of sight, Ray opens up and starts checking the bag; her art supplies and some other smaller things are gone, but everything else is still there and intact. She pauses again and all she can think to say is that she needs to get out of here. Jack nods in agreement and begins to head toward the opening of one hallway, turning back and beckoning her to follow. Ray’s still confused by this creature wanting to help her, but some part of her tells her she can trust him; pulling out and turning on her lantern, she follows the Searcher on down the darkened hall.
Mostly working on scripting action dialogue right now, this WIP’s gonna be really long. This is just a small portion of it XD I’m not about to tag that many people for all of this, so gonna follow my friend’s lead and just do a few; @anartistwhowrites, @lil-artist-blog-fandoms-ocs, and @sbpstudios!
