oc asks
What's an AU that would be interesting to explore with your OC?
you know i'm hooked on a pairing/character when i put them in a band AU and this may be one of my wackiest yet. it all started when i heard Dam That River by Alice in Chains for the first time in a while and i was soldddddd.
continues with something i told @falafels earlier which is that seth gordon is like a dead deer to me. in this he lives in his van that he also uses to tour around with his band that consists of matt (guitar) renee (bass) and no drummer because their last drummer left because seth stole his weed. he retraces his own steps across every city and backwater town in the country, never anywhere longer than a couple of days. he arrives, he preaches, he changes somebody's perception of the world in one night, smokes a fag and leaves. he's kind of like if jesus was roadkill. seth is hated by almost everyone who lays eyes on him, and he's only ever there long enough to be seen, run over, glanced at in a rearview mirror and never thought about again. voice of an angel if angels breathed more smoke than oxygen. nothing he says is true and also he has never told a lie.
adrian has been living in the same place since he was five years old and he thinks it's starting to kill him. he didn't go to college so he could provide for his sisters, but his grandparents took over guardianship in a legal loophole a broke scared 17 year old never could've seen coming, and now he's 20 and lives alone in a house that's built for five times the occupants, a job he could do in his sleep and still be exhausted when he wakes up. the only thing he actually enjoys doing is painting constellations on the walls of his unfurnished living room (he sold a lot of stuff to cover costs) and playing drums. he's angry, all the time, and music is an outlet but there's only so much he can do alone so one night he spots a flier for a show that promises to "break your brain open" and figures, it's worth a shot. gets his life saved and ruined by seth gordon's razorblade smile, talks them into hearing him play after the show, and finds himself in the back of a van a week later, touring. it's the last direction he ever thought his life would go in, spending nearly every night onstage with the world turned up to 11 and lights blinding as his hands move in patterns he's not sure he could replicate anywhere else, but god it all just works. you're unbeatable, unbreakable, for an hour and a half as the stage is swarmed by hundreds of other people trying to feel the same as you, and it's like a religion. it's like if jesus was roadkill.
