Elsie may I ask about wip #5? The thought of a ballet au is so intriguing!
Oh yes this is one of my faves because I love all things ballet and dancing, so this is entirely self-indulgent.
I’ve written a few chapters for this one, but I might go back and tweak things to give them a facelift. Basically, the AU has TK moving to Austin because his dad is becoming the artistic director for a ballet company that is basically a vanity project for a rich woman who wants to create the company. Of course, the company is not like usual ballet companies, and that bothers TK who doesn’t like to see ballet tradition being eroded.
There are a lot of things that make TK upset about the new company, such as Owen choosing people like Mateo, who was never formally trained in ballet, but Owen has a vision and he sees no reason to think inside the box while TK is like “This is not how it is done.” but of course ends up enjoying the company.
In this AU, Carlos is actually a dancer too, but he is not a ballet dancer. He dances with a modern dance company that incorporates ballroom dancing in their choreography (he was trained mostly in ballroom dance). I created this company because I think it would be an interesting fusion to have in real life, so I was self-indulgent and put it into my fic.
The whole plot is basically TK getting used to Austin and resparking his love for ballet, which was kind of lost in New York.
Some characters are ballet dancers/ part of the ballet company (the firefighters plus Grace)
While the paramedics (in season 1 and I could add Tommy as well) are musicians.
Carlos is then a different type of dancer, but he also teaches dance classes, which I think is very true to character.
