OC Name Meaning Tag

I usually choose my name by having an idea of what kind of feeling I want from their manes and sometimes I use a random generator to get ideas, or baby name sites. Sometimes I just know the name before I know the character.

The Infernal Cave:

KEEP ME BREATHING:

Fubuki: A Japanese name meanind "Blizzard". I wanted the big 4 families to have a theme in their names and since Astaro is very much based on Japan, and their last names is connected to seasons Fubuki felt like the most fitting name for the daughter in the Snow Family.

Sakura: Like with the Snow family having snow related names, the Petal family have names based on flowers. And what better name for a princess-like character, than Sakura.

Gideon: Gideon was the first character to be named and I did so before deciding on the themes of the big families. Gideon was for the longest time the name I would name my son if I ever got one. (100% based on the fact that John Kramer's unnamed son in SAW was going to be given that name).

Alexandr: Like the Astaro families, I wanted Lucif's big family to have a theme as well, and since Lucif was loosely inspired by Germany, Edelstein was an easy choice. So he had to have a name related to gems.

Casey: Casey just sounded cool. And like a very "not my real name" name.

Gikel: Because of his double name situation I felt like Gikel, a name related to Jekyll, was a good fit.

THE STRONG, THE SRAY & A PUNK

Kaleb: I randomly generated this name because he was supposed to be a small side character in the first book...

Rio: My picture of Rio is basically a typical action videogame character and Walker feels like THE last name. And Rio just goes well with Walker.

Owen: I don't like the name Owen, for some reason it feels icky... And that's exactly what this character is.

Isaac: I wanted a name that could be modified to give him the label "Zack" but I didn't want Zack to be his real name.

Wrapped In Ocean:

Cordelia: This was the hardest to come up with for this story. She is basically Kraken so I wanted a name that both fit her kind and caring character, but also would be easily connected to Kraken.

Diana: Diana is based on Davy Jones so I needed a female name that would work with that.

Levi: I just wanted a name that I could mentally connect to Leviathan and that also could work for a caring uncle.

We're Doing the Strong, the Stray & a Punk this time. (Most of these words felt more fitting.) And boy was it a long time since I opened this document...

Dull

“Sit down!” The commander himself leaned against his desk while they sat down in the chairs. “I guess you want to know why I called you here.” He gestured to the screen at the wall and showed them a picture of a man in a lab coat. The man had a light pink-orange hair color and his hair was put up into a high bun. He wore glasses and a lab coat. One of his eyes looked almost mechanic, the other had a dull gray color.

Repair

Fun Fact: After the events of Keep Me Breathing, Kaleb and Rio shifted from four-wheelers to motorcycles and Fubuki took over maintenance on their gear. She is also the one who installed the dog(wolf) carrier on Kaleb's bike.

Yellow

He turned towards the girl. She was of normal height and dressed in black jeans, a band t-shirt and an open hoodie. Her hair was dyed in a light pink color and her hair was partly in what he could only guess was supposed to resemble cat ears. The glasses she wore made her yellow eyes look even bigger than they already were.

The trip to Asmodeum would take at least four days. Maybe more, depending on how well the doctor could drive. Rio would’ve preferred to have him riding with Kaleb, but since he had the carrier for Sozz, that wasn’t an option. The other option would be having him ride with Rio, but the thought of having a criminal that close to him, on his back, was frightening. Also, Kaleb had used the excuse that Rio wasn’t a very good driver with a passenger, which wasn’t a lie. He really wasn’t.

Student

“The human testing law doesn’t have anything in it about the tester being the one being tested on. The body modification laws however have a small part dedicated to personal modifications done to oneself, which basically says that you don’t need permission to tattoo yourself, as long as you’re not doing it for monetary profit. Maybe some of the testing done can fall under body modification.” Kaleb looked at the girl in awe. For the first time in years, her voice didn’t cause him discomfort. That’s a high scoring law student.

Lump

The smile in her voice was tainted by her grief. Kaleb knew she would always have a lump forming in her heart when it came to her friend. He felt it himself whenever something reminded him of his mother.

Hospital

“This is Doctor Duncan Huckstep. One of our top researchers at Silver Oak Hospital Center. He’s currently in charge of the Weakness Parasite.”

A chill ran down Kaleb’s spine. The weakness parasite, also known as shadow death, had been spreading through the cave system with great speed. It made it’s victims weak to the point that their bodies wasn’t able to work properly. Killing them with fatigue.

Make

It also became obvious that he, in fact, had a soft spot for Sozz. More often than not, he bent down to pet the wolf and made sure that there was food and snacks for him. He also did his best to make a bed for him, out of blankets and pillows, on the floor, and insisting that he was allowed in every bed and couch in the house.

Econobox

Since this apparently is a sort of car (googled it) I’ll bring you a fact about vehicles. In the Infernal Cave, the vehicles are fueled by the mineral Sphalerite and it works with kind of like a small nuclear reaction with the different chemical elements separately.

And it’s 4622-4623 so they’ve found a way to utilize the waste as well. Not sure how yet, though.

Kaleb looked around. The lack of dust and dirt made it clear that the apartment belonged to the commander. The foyer was neatly organized, as was the kitchen that could be seen from it.

“You want us to stay at your place?” Kaleb found it hard to believe that Zack of all people, would take in two men and a wolf. Especially since one of them had a record of rule breaking and causing trouble. Didn’t he also have a kid? He thought that he’d heard that somewhere.

“You’re having trouble with that, Neelam?” The commander’s tone was slightly less formal now. Not much but a little. Being in his home must’ve made him relax a bit.

“My kid’s at his mother’s place this week so I have a spare room. And I don’t think they’d give you any peace over at the dorms.” He smiled. “I hear them talk, you know.”

@eccaiia I had intended for Rio and Kaleb to leave for their mission right away, but Commander Zack didn’t want that so we’re staying the night at his place for more Sozz spoils :D

Emily Walker

Emily is the younger sister of Rio She's 20 years old and lives at home while she's studying.(Maybe Law, I don't know yet)

She does not have naturally pink hair, it is dyed. She has a huge crush on Kaleb, but he doesn't show any sign of returning those feelings. She's sweet and bubbly. Quite the opposite of Kaleb.

She went to Satara with her friend to support her brother when Kaleb ran off.

Keep Me Breathing

1. Before I started this project, I’d been putting writing on the back burner for a few years. I tried to figure out what I wanted to do and thought that it was somewhere in music.

2. The idea begun while I was watching an anime named “Sakugan” and everything kind of grew from that.

3. Casey was the first thing that came up. And he started out as a mix between Gagumber from Sakugan and  Oshino Meme from Bakemonogatari. 

the Strong, the Stray & a Punk

1. This WIP only came about because I had these three characters show up for a totally self indulgent scene in Keep Me Breathing, and I made the mistake of giving one of them a mohawk. (I have a weakness for men with mohawks) So I wanted to learn more about them.

2. The title for this came long before I figured out a plot. I hadn’t even figured out if there was supposed to be two or three main characters in it yet.

3. I watched Cyberpunk Edgerunners and realized that I need more crazy doctor types of characters in my life. So DocStep came to be, and he brought a plot with him. (thank goodness)

“He’s in Verrier.” Alexandr had put his phone away and come up to them. “Fuki performed a gear check and is staying the night in the house.”

Life Hazard didn’t seem phased by this. But the words he spoke had a tone of relief. “I assume he won’t stay long but it’s nice to hear that he’s okay. Did she say how the gear check went?”

“Besides some scratches on the bike and do- wolf carrier, it was all clear.” It had taken Rio until now to understand what they were talking about. Kaleb was with Fubuki? He was safe.
