June Hair Wips!

I’ve been wanting to become more active on here for a while now so I have decided to do a thing where i upload 3-4 hairs a month. A big thankyou to @aharris00britney for inspiring me to do this.

WIP Month: 12 March to 12 April

ahem ahem I know that I did not sign up for this at the beginning, but I normally don’t like to be too visible so ..... I was remaining hidden. I loved this idea of @mottlemoth and even more I loved the bravery of @eys93 who said .... “it is not only about fanfic and fanart, I use this WIP idea to complete my personal WIP goals that have nothing to do with fandoms”. Great! So....can I belately join?

My name is Em and I have tons of WIPs in RL. My achievements so far are:

- I managed with my younger son to go through all the theory of the driving license. I was VERY strict and every day I sat with him to work on it (my younger son has ADHD and is dyslexic so he need some help). He enrolled for the exam in May. I will keep on studying with him to review everything every day.

- I finished and published my first fic. I did it. I know I know, it’s .....something which is terrible compared with what people can produce here, but I am proud to have finished one without feeling too depressed by the outcome before the end.

- I am heavily working on ..... organizing the family due to some serious health troubles (not involving me personally). This will be the hardest WIP in the following days and possibly months. At the beginning I was trying to hide from what it was coming, now I need to take the lead for everyone.

I love to read about your WIP months, fic or non-fic related. It’s like putting a step in front of the other despite...everything, and doing it among people who support you. Thanks @mottlemoth for this.

WIP Month Pledge Time

OK, SO.

It’s a little late, but here’s the deal...

Some lovely writers, lead by the marvelous @mottlemoth, have challenged themselves and others to participate in a new little something called WIP Month. It’s exactly what it sounds like: from March 12th - April 12th, set a goal and do your best to see it through!

In the last seven or so years, I’ve been struggling with my writing. That is to say, especially output and finishing. I’ve put down ideas, written out summaries and outlines, had fits and start, written blurbs and bits and whole chapters and kept it all to myself because I don’t feel any of it’s fit for the human eye. A bit over 4 years ago, I published several chapters of something I was really confident about on Ao3... and then never finished it. There’s guilt there, and plenty of other things. It’s been complicated, and messy, and I’m sure plenty of people can relate. I miss completing things. I want to do better.

So here’s my challenge to myself for WIP Month. 

I will be working on Arpeggiate, because I want to work to fix and finish the WIP that’s been hanging in limbo for so long - but I am not going to pressure myself to finish it for the goal, because I need to encourage myself to walk again before running. My goal is going to be to redo the chapters that are existing and post at least one new chapter within the time frame, because I don’t want to put something out there that isn’t good, due to forcing myself to get it done. If I get more out, fantastic! But if I at least achieve my goal, I think I’ll feel like I’m moving in a positive direction for the first time in a very long time. Moth’s suggested rewarding ourselves, so my reward to myself will be going for a pedicure with my best friend.

I’ve already edited the first chapter, second chapter’s a mess, so we’ll see how we go. If you do head over to read the fic, be aware that the first chapter is updated, but until otherwise noted, the second chapter is almost definitely about to be pulled apart and reworked, possibly into several new chapters!

I’m also going to try to spend a bit more time in the Tumblr space... It’s been a while, but it helps to see and hear voices supporting each other. Good luck, everyone, with your challenge!

WIP month update I'm on page 10, let's see if I can manage to ink this before flying to London tomorrow! If I don't, I probably won't accomplish my goal. Oh well

WIP Month

I really did think I would have Heart Strings done today but it just. Keeps. Getting. Longer. 

So hopefully I can get that off to betas tonight and maybe up tomorrow.  Also there’s a Kylux fic that is next in the queue after that. If I’m productive.

WIP month update

Ok, so since I’m off for the long weekend, I got in some writing today and now have ~1k words for the next chapter of the Ides of March.

I should be able to post tonight or tomorrow.

I also need to type up the epilogue for The Siren’s Call.

At some point I hopefully will put some work into my journal article.
