Why can’t my wip’s write themselves for me? Why do I gotta do all the work? 😫😫
I’m starting to despise publishing WIPs! I don’t have a problem publishing week by week if the piece is all but finished, but I regret having three WIPs up on AO3 at the moment! An outline, a story does not make!
I feel guilty that the lovely people who have subscribed to them are being made to wait! I’m so sorry!
That being said, I am struggling with the one I have decided to finish first. I get the impression that I’m not very good at the emotional side of writing. God knows what people think of it, but I still think that After The Siege is, thus far, my best piece of writing. The characters in that are very “manly” in their emotions. Repressed and subdued. There is more action than thinking going on. My current piece, Fireworks and Lightning Strikes, is full of emotions and emotionally lead decisions and complex mental states. Its hard to write! Maybe it’s because I have the emotional range of a concussed rabbit?
Either way, this post is mostly an apology for not being better at writing this particular story, and for putting the other two, already published, WIPs on hold until f&ls is close to being finished!
It also sucks when it seems none of my favorite WIP fanfics that I'm reading ever get updated
I SAW THROUGH YOUR PLANS, FRIEND! You wanted to have my heart torn as well! IT DIDN'T UPDATE SINCE YEARS AGO?! WHY?!
This is the power of WIPs. THEY JUST KILL YOU IN AN INSTANT LIKE A BASILISK! When you're so into the fic and it doesn't update for FUCKING YEARS, YOU'RE DEAD. JUST RIGHT THERE.
GOODNESS. That's why I've sworn on Dumbledore's grave to read only complete ones just to stay on the safe side.

I... I just spent hours reading what amounted to the BEST fanfic I've ever read, in any fandom, ever, only to get to the end of the 130k+ to realize that it was never finished and has been abandoned for two years, effectively killing any hope I may have had that it will ever be completed.
This is what I get for not checking these kinds of things first. Urgh.
