I’m very much alive and writing, so I thought I’d share with you a snippet of my upcoming Levi series, Alternative Medicine. The number of chapters is yet to be determined, but I hardly believe it’ll go beyond fifteen. As written on my masterlist page, it will published entirely on ao3. Anyway, enjoy :)

Alternative Medicine

Content: doctor!Levi, best friend to lovers, angst, smut, hurt/comfort, humor, modern!au, mutual pining

Pairing: Levi Ackerman x fem bodied reader

Summary: A medicine for the heart, sometimes a venom for the soul. Levi, your childhood best friends, embodies both in spite of your need to repress your feelings in favor of your rationality and need for control. Love, however, is destined to escape from the grip of your chains.

You remember it distinctly, the night you let your instincts overpower you and your bare skin meet. Electric and beguiling, was the feeling of him above you, then underneath you, then again by your side as his welcoming arms kindly offered you a warm place to sleep in.

A man you loved, one you inevitably lost.

Lost the second you decided that the too often damp and gloomy —nonetheless familiar, unique— streets of London were the reason for your inexplicable and persistent sense of non-belonging, which haunted and still haunts you, a bothersome weight that, hovering over your shoulders, hurts you more the time passes and carves its presence on you unsolicited.

You’d perhaps find him in disagreement, at the acknowledgment of your convictions. Maybe he’d go as far as telling you that no, you didn’t lose him. No anger had filled his voice the day you finally answered his call —too ashamed to take accountability before— and you informed him of your intention to stay in Switzerland for the upcoming months.

“Months? How many months?” you recall his tone sounding meek. He, himself, sounding brittle.

“I’m not sure yet.” you had answered.

That was the last actual conversation you had, the last time you heard his voice as clearly and spoke to him that much. At any rate, you can’t blame him when the decision of leaving him without the slightest kind of warning falls entirely upon your shoulders.

However, Levi knew —as he knew you— that it was hardly to be expected that you’d stay put in your place, for the city streets swallowed you with each step, no matter his company and his resolution to soften the excruciating dread of stagnation that clung to your heart and swelled in the pit of your stomach, and he was aware that you’d soon be someone he used to know.
