Your Fantasy Wireplay wouldn't work like that
i dont think the robot fuckers know how wires work. like dont get me wrong, im not here to yuck peoples yum, but ever since i made that one post i've now been exposed to more to the scene and now i have MORE nitpicks.
Wires! how do they work? well not by yanking on them thats for sure. wires transmit signals. they dont have sensation themselves. your robot wont feel you touching the wires, your thinking about this all wrong. the mental image you need is not of nerves but of a VGA cable not seated right. the screen is glitchy and distorted as different pins become unplugged and re-plugged in the connector. THAT is how it would be interpreted
tugging on a wire will cause the plug to become partially unseated. what happens if you loose the clock pin? or 5V? or Ground? or the signal drops out? or if its analogue? well all kinds of fun things. whatever that wire connects will no longer be detected correctly. tugging on a wire in the torso could cause the left foot to flash between static, spinning, inverted position, or feeling like when you hit the funny bone in your elbow. its brief pulses of garbage data. that would probably be pretty overwhelming
but lets also not forget why the wires are on the inside and not the outside: Shielding RF is no joke. we all take it for granted that all of our devices are certified to not produce excessive levels of EMF but thats because we keep the wires on the inside. lots of our tech hides inside a faraday cage you cant see
every wire is basically a mini-antenna and will pick up on any electric interference. put your cell phone on a pare of wired headphones plugged into a different device and call it. you will hear the RF beaming into your phone from the cell tower. electric motors spin because of a oscillating magnetic field. moving a spinning motor near wires will induce eddy currents in the wires that will show up as more junk signals. heck there is even a whole design process with robots to make sure the data wires are kept away from the power wires because the power wires WILL interfere with the data ones. so pull those wires out and twist them next to each other to really mess with it. And thats all low power stuff. think about what a little bit of static electricity from friction with a polyester blanket would do if you poked a finger inside to discharge it. YOU can feel your hairs stand up before it goes off and arc itself. your hand is a little mini capacitor and youve just dumped 20 kilovolts (at very low amperage) into some sensitive components. this is why you wear a ESD wrist strap when you work on expensive electronics, folks
thank you for coming to my 3AM ted talk. come back next week where i will find a different kink to misinterpret and think about too literally.
