She and her brother are immigration activists and run a popular restaurant called La Morada that employs the undocumented and serves as a community resource. The #WisdomOfOccupy from Jan 31, 2012 This is Karin, she came from Hamburg, Germany in the 1950s, she was an immigrant. She recalled as a young girl entering New York Harbor, everyone on the boat rushed to one side you see the Statue of Liberty. Karin was petrified that with everyone on one side of the boat or would capsize. She went on to say how sad she was that in such a wealthy country healthcare was so expensive. She noted the irony that less well off countries like Germany provide total healthcare. Karin also noted that she was in need of dental care, but couldn't afford it. Now with Obamacare being undone what little relief Karin got will slip away. #woo #accrashepp #stevenkashergallery
