Long post: I had the most frustrating day at work today, at the job I actually like.

I HAVE NEVER BEEN AROUND SO MANY SPOILED, ENTITLED, USELESS, VAPID HUMANS IN MY LIFE.

So, I work in a museum. Today we had a field trip. I’m not sure what grade the kids were in. Maybe 4th? Idk. But there was about 40 of them. And the moment they arrived at 9am this morning, they were LITERALLY bouncing off the walls. They came with about 10 adults who might as well have been pictures on the wall. They did NOTHING to contain these kids the whole time.

The day goes gone with me, two other coworkers, and my supervisor trying to give them a good experience, but these kids were relentlessly disobedient. We had to repeat ourselves constantly, talk over their loud mouths, and delay activities to get some semblance of order. The teachers and chaperones were off somewhere chatting while us employees were wrangling their kids.

After lunch? Oh ABSOLUTELY WORSE. By then, I got tired of waiting for the adults to step in and put their foot down, so I took on the disciplinarian role. I had a group of kids waiting to go to the top floor to do our boat simulator. Everyone had been excited when we mentioned it at the beginning. So I used that as leverage.

We were on the 3rd floor, and I told them that only a few of the best behaved kids would be able to use the simulator. Their teacher, out of her own mouth, said, “Oooo good, and I’ll even help you pick which ones!” Finally, an adult on my side.

On the 3rd floor, we had a film to show them. As I’m gathering kids and sitting them down, these two brats behind me are giving another kid a hard time, not letting him sit next to them. I tell them to move and let the kid sit down.

Towards the end of the movie, I look back to get a good look at the brats to make sure they don’t go on the simulator. I catch them AND the kid they gave a hard time, all trying to talk into the walkie talkie I have clipped to my back pocket. So I said bet. NONE of y’all mofos are doing the simulator today.

Once the movie ends, I clear out the room, holding the Three Musketeers back so they have to be at the end of the line. Once everyone is out, I get their attention and tell them one last time that ONLY THE BEST BEHAVED will be doing the simulator.

We get to the top floor, and the teacher comes to me and asks,

“If we stay a little longer, can ALL the kids do the simulator?”

I short circuit for a second.

She then says, “I mean, it’s just that they were all so excited to do it and I’m afraid that they’ll riot if they don’t all get a turn.”

LADY DO YOU THINK I GIVE A GOOD GOTDAMN HOW THESE DEMON SPAWNS WILL FEEL IF THEY DONT GET A TURN?!

I left them with a coworker shortly afterwards because I feared I would throw someone out of the window. I was FURIOUS that I had that teacher AGREE with me that the best behavior should be rewarded, and then change her mind IN FRONT OF THE SAME GREMLINS!

My supervisor said it was cool if I avoided them for the rest of the day and I sure as shit did.
