... I deeply, deeply wish I was represented by an even marginally competent union instead an absolute shitshow disaster of one that has zero concept of how to actually write or negotiate a contract or actually communicate with the workers they're supposed to be representing
#my company and the union have been negotiating for nearly a *year* and I swear the contract keeps getting *worse* than the first offer#because the union keeps picking absolutely stupid tiny hills to die on and has no one with actual legal or negotiation knowledge#(and because the union only schedule meetings when I'm not available to be involved I'm just stuck screaming in frustration on the sideline#and even though they have my email I only get info by specifically harrassing them for updates or by one or two coworkers letting me know)#Wit rambles#Just... I grew up in a family of nearly entirely union-based workers and know and respect what a competent union looks like#and this one sure ain't it but they keep trying to pretend they are and blaming all their failings on 'Well the company won't cooperate!'#which no duh??That's why we *have* a bargaining unit and why you're representing us instead of us relying on the company's good will??#And you can't blame *everything* on that when a lot of it is blatantly your own incompetence#(also we're in a weird situation of 'This union *represents* us but we aren't actually technically *members* of the union'...#... even though we pay (an obscene amount of) dues?? And I deeply hate everything about the way this situation's structured)#Between this nonsense and the way my every attempt to progress at work gets stonewalled I just desperately wish I could find a new job
