the chilling water drifting around your body. the dolphins jumping around in joy. the fish swimming around calmly like leaves falling off a tree slowly. beautiful, mysterious creatures swimming around in the depths of the seas, feared even though they would be an absolute beauty in nearly anyone’s eyes. the loud,, graceful splash you make when you jump into the water. the feeling of the water on your skin as you stay completely embraced underwater by it.

why do we treat the seas like a wasteland?

we treat one of the most beautiful things ever seen in the world like a trash can.

how is that okay? how come nobody ever seems to notice anymore what our kind does? millions of people treat the world like it’s a junkyard and isn't aware of what they’re really doing. that isn’t okay under any circumstance. it will never be okay.

My Mini Altar

A couple of weeks ago I did an unboxing post about my first curated box from wild ritual. In it there were some items to make a small altar and I thought after putting it together than I could contribute to the no filter witchcraft movement.

Yes, that is an unfinished Warhammer Fantasy miniature over there. The horsey is missing its tail and I cannot find it. This altar is very small and VERY simple in comparison to the elaborate, sometimes overdone altars I have had in the past. It suits my current minimalist magical mood. Maybe I’ll dig up some pictures of that.

My altar has a jar of mixed herbs in the northernmost point representing Earth, a bit of star anise in the east for Air, a tealight for Fire, and a shell for Water. I anointed them each with a little lemongrass oil and set them up around a small painted ceramic tile with a moon on it. Next to all of that is a dream journal that I don’t use nearly enough, and in the very center is a piece of tigers eye. The Tiger’s eye is there because there is an old story about placing it next to the bed to bring abundance and prosperity into your life, and as you can see by the second picture this mini altar is like six inches from my bed. Above that is a raccoon leg bone that I received from a friend. The raccoon has a special meaning to me as it often appears in my dreams, but is also a symbol of curiosity and adaptability, which are the keystones of my own personality.

My altar cost me around $5 (not including the dream journal witch was a gift), and aside from sometimes sharing the space with my cell (the charge cable is between my dresser and my bed) this is what the space looks like.

What are some cool autumn solstice or autumn seasonal party things to do? I saw your summer solstice post and I love it! I'm definitely gonna try it. Since autumn is coming very quickly where I live, I for sure want to incorporate it this year into my traditional affairs.

I haven’t even begun to think about autumn (it’ll be 101 here for a while yet). But I think an autumn solstice idea list is a great idea! So here goes!

Things to do to celebrate the Autumn Solstice:

- Meditate on your accomplishments or make a list - the autumn solstice is all about the harvest, the things that you’ve done since spring to place you where you are now. So first you may ask yourself: what developments have you seen in your own life? what are the fruits of your own labors? You may have guests or family members write down a few things they’ve accomplished this past year and read them to one another or collect them in a fall box.

- Make a fall craft - you can make a twig wreath, collect fallen leaves to scatter about the table as decorations, make preserves or jams, gather fruits and vegetables onto a fall themed table or cornucopia, pentacle wreaths are also popular, use modge podge to stick painted leaves onto stones for the garden, make a center piece of wheat and corn 

- Burn autumn scented candles - pumpkin pie, cinnamon, etc.

- Bake seasonal foods/make cider - pies work well here, but anything that reminds you of fall, of harvest, of the work of the last year is good. Think warm foods that make you want to crawl inside an oversized sweater. If making cider is a little too much doing then I suggest buying apple cider and adding your own spice to it and heating it over the stove - cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg can all spice up an already good cider, get it warm and it’s divine. 

- Apples - apples are, in a lot of ways, the face of the autumn solstice so go nuts. Apple pie, apple cider, apple scented candles and sprays, carved apple faces, bobbing for apples and so on you can’t go wrong

In short, the autumn solstice is a time for warmth, for family, for reflection. This is a time to gather friends together and think about all that has been accomplished in the past year. You have each been working and now is the time to reap the benefits of your own personal harvests. A solstice party should have warm browns, reds, golds and should feature a lot of good fruits and vegetables to symbolize the literal harvest of the year.

What's the difference between a glyph and any other symbol or sigil?

I'm not 100% but I think a glyph is a symbol that is part of an alphabet or set, like hieroglyphics. Whereas other symbols, such as sigils, aren't they are just symbols with meaning.
