Hi I haven’t been on here for a while but I made an alter for Aphrodite!! I might rearrange it but so far I like it a lot!!
It's weird,
I've been a witch for over twenty years, but because I don't have the energy to practice much these days, I always feel like I don't have much to contribute to the world.
Writing my Witchin' Fiction project, my witch with twenty years experience is giving the new, wannabe witch a really quick "Witchcraft - The Basics" and I surprised myself with how easily I could have Heather sum it up.
Like, Holy Shit, I do still actually know this stuff. I gotta remember to trust my own brain more. I put A LOT of book learnin' in there back in the late 90s and 00s before I got sick. A lot of practical learnin' too.
And it's given me a conference boost for writing Talli the newbie's exploration of the tarot. I was always good with tarot.
Witch’s School
Do you want to be in a group of witches who want to learn together online?
For me it’s been very easy to get overwhelmed when trying to start practicing witchcraft. I want to do things “the right way” as soon as I can and I find myself seting time constraints. “I really want to do this during the next full moon” I’ll say to myself then get disappointed when I am not prepared in time.
But, I’m trying to say mindful, if not this full moon there will be more, time does not stop. There is no rush and no pressure in this I can relax and do things at my own pace. I do not need to have everything done in a week I could take years preparing if I wanted and there would be nothing wrong with that.
As the thought of getting candles, herbs, flowers, and tools races in my mind I am making sure to let myself breath. I want to remind all of the beginning witches like me that there is no time limit. How and when you do things does not need to be definite so feel free to take all the time you need to learn like I am. Make mistakes and learn new things, there is no rush so relax and breath.
I’ve been reading a lot of books to start off with learning witchcraft and it’s fascinating how different some approaches are while still having the same basic ideas. A big place I’m seeing this is when reading a classic and a newer book. The classic is very religion based mainly Wicca centered in particular while the newer one is much more focused on incorporating witchcraft into your life regardless of your religious affiliation. I also noticed that at least in this case the classic seems much more academic in nature while the newer one seems a lot more casual.
Anyways in my opinion they both are pretty nice so far if anyone would like to know the books are Buckland’s Complete Book on Witchcraft - Raymond Buckland (older) The Modern Guide to Witchcraft: Your Complete Guide to Witches, Covens, and Spells - Skye Alexander (newer)
