Free Stuff for Poor Witches/Vultures

I'm actually not joking. So you all know that I love doing giveaways, and if I could afford to I'd probably do one every week. I've decided to start a voluntary list of "in-need" witches. It wouldn't be posted online, just kept by me, and people who feel that they do not have the monetary ability to purchase things that they really need (or want) can message me to be added to this list. Every time someone makes a purchase from my store, 10% of that price will go to a fund. Whenever that fund reaches $25, I'll randomly draw a person from the list to receive a free item(s) from my store equaling $25. This could be bones, grimoire/journal pages, jewelry, carvings, etc. So for every $10 someone spends on my stuff, $1 is going to help someone get the supplies that they otherwise wouldn't be able to afford. It's my way of being able to contribute to those people who help spread word of my store and items. For those that would like to join the list: message me with your name and main blog name. For those that would like to contribute: my store is RoadkillRescue on etsy, or you can ask me on Tumblr what I have available. I don't always keep an updated etsy shop, and I'm working on a new shop website currently.

My sparse little altar (I tend to favor minimalism for my altar spaces anyway but since as previously mentioned I actually don’t have any furniture yet I am particularly restricted to this little ledge) and a closeup of the “Me” Candle (as per @witcheryandchill‘s brilliant post) that I just finished carving with the “self” rune, Mannaz, surrounded by a waning crescent which was the phase of the moon the night I was born.  Tomorrow night I’ll bless it under the full moon and it will be ready to supplement alllll my witchy workings! *insert delighted cackling here*

The candle itself, which in my opinion smells absolutely divine w notes of frankincense, myrrh, and mugwort, is made by @coventrycreations and is available here if you’re interested.  I stumbled across it at The Scarlet Sage Herb Co. in San Fran while I was there over the weekend and knew it would be perfect for this.

Sorry for the poor picture quality, I just couldn’t wait to share that I bought my first crystal ball yesterday!!  It’s just a little sphere of Selenite, my favorite 💙💙

I had not intended to purchase a crystal ball when I wandered into the crystal shop yesterday (or ever, actually!), but once I held this one in my hand I knew I couldn’t leave without it 🌙🔮🌙

I am in love with my new spell book  💙✨💙✨💙

Spent hours over the past couple days sketching out the title page and then inking it in with a felt-tipped pen but it was so worth it; I love how it turned out!!

Finally I have a place to start keeping track of the various spells I’ve crafted from bindrunes to incantations to bath spells and everything else that is to come!!

NYC Witchy Shops

Places out and about in NYC where I have found some of the more obscure/specific witching supplies:

Enchantments at 424 E 9th St (btw 1st Ave and Ave A)

Namaste Bookshop at 2 W 14th St (btw 5th and 6th Ave)

Rock Star Crystals at 146 W 26th St (btw 6th and 7th Ave)

Stick Stone and Bone at 113 Christopher St (btw Hudson and Bleecker St)

Whole Body at Whole Foods Market 250 7th Av (btw 24th and 25th St) - ok, this one isn’t exclusively witchy but they do have a nice selection of incense and incense holders, candles, smudge sticks, essential oils and the like.  This one is the biggest one in the city and has its own entrance and everything, but every Whole Foods location has a Whole Body section :)

My Witching Starter Kit

Alright so I’ve been doing a lot of research and slowly starting to gather materials and a lot of them obviously depend on what each specific spell calls for, but there are also definitely some basics that I’m going to need.  Time for this little witch to move on from simple incantations and drawing runes on things to some more involved witchery! Pretty please help me out and add suggestions?  What are the items and ingredients you come back to again and again that you’d recommend to a beginner? 

- white candles of various sizes

- blank book to be my grimoire

- set of rune stones

- small table of some kind to act as an altar and storage for witch things

- big ol’ hunk of clear quartz
