Rant on the whole 'white ppl cant listen to black music' topic.
I never rant on here, ever. But this whole topic really bothers me and some times ya just need to vent ya feelings. So, basically, what really fucks me off is stereotypical people, who are so small minded that they think because you look, dress or act a certain way you can only have interest in certain things. But when it comes to skin colour, it really really disgusts me. I am a white british girl, I have been brought up in a town which consists on whites, blacks, Asians etc. However, as a young child I have grown up around my dad and his interests. My dads musical preference is mainly Hip Hop, Motown and Reggae. So therefore, as I have grown up into a teenager/young adult, his music has rubbed off on me and I also like, as people say these days 'black muisc'. However, in some cases, because I am white listening to black music I am judged or laughed at? or I am classed as ''trying to act black''? I listen to whatever music appeals to me, if I find it catchy and enjoyable then I will listen to it. As all the great artists say 'music is a universal language'. Where ever you go in the world there will always be music to connect and bring together different races in the form of singing or dancing. Now lets all just hold the fuck up a second and reverse this, if I was to say ''black people cant listen to white music'' SHIT WOULD GET REAL. It would be classed as ugly and racist. Or for instance, a black person enjoyed The Beatles or Elvis and I said 'your trying to be white'. ITS SO IGNORANT AND WRONG. For example, when an artist puts a single or an album out there, they are never thinking for who it is aimed at. Their only aim is for EVERYONE to enjoy it, in despite of age, race, sexuality. They just want their music to be enjoyed. The amount of ignorance that people have these days is outstanding. And who would of thought, music, out of all things could actually start racism. Just listen to what ya damn like, that's my message. Peace out.
