“doesn’t it bother you sometimes?”

“what exactly?”

“your hair. i've noticed you blowing it out of your face every now and then while you were performing the lotus earlier.”

rin cracks one eye open as he examines your expression, watercolor eyes searching for the tiniest hint indicating that you’re messing with him once more.

yet he’s met with nothing but pure curiosity as you scrutinize the olive bangs messily descending upon his face, concealing his pearly orbs like a veil, hiding them from your prying gaze.

“sometimes” he sighs before settling back into the yoga position he had been performing prior to your question.

with a silent hum you excuse yourself, leaving your lover to continue on with his exercises in tranquil silence.

the pitter patter of your hurried steps on the wooden tiles recures sooner than anticipated, accompanied by an exited chortle leaving your mouth as your hastened strides lead you over to him once more.

only as you flop down on the floor does he detect the metallic clinking sound of what he considers to be your jewelery box.

despite questioning your decision to put on your accessories in the living space rather than the bathroom, rin resolves to leave his eyes shut, deeming your presence rather soothing than a nuisance, expecting you to let him finish up his training without any disruption.

rin comes to the revelation that you enjoy messing with him even more than he already knew as he feels a cool metal sensation graze his forehead before the cover of his bangs gets lifted off his face by what he supposes to be one of your hairpins.

he's proven correct as you scoop one of the side pieces up with another pin, clipping it shut after fixating the small section on the side of his head.

"what are you doing?"

"helping you keep your bangs in place so they won't annoy you"

"and you had to use your pochacco clips to do that?"

"they look cute on you! besides.. they work don't they?"

"you're unendurable"

"but you love me"

"yeah.. i guess i tolerate you a little more than anyone else"

if you are someone who has never been in great physical shape, i can imagine the idea of getting there being really intimidating because working out/stretching always sucks when you're not used to it. But, barring a disability that prevents certain activities, it's important you understand that it does not stay difficult and unpleasant forever. as soon as your muscles, ligaments/tendons, and cardiovascular system are used to an exercise, and developed to support your joints, it is truly just easy and painless, while you still receive endorphins and as we all know many health benefits. that means you breathe happily, your muscles don't burn, your joints don't scream, you don't get dizzy or overheat. it really doesn't even take that long, if you can stick through the initial discomfort. whatever level of ability you have, every bit of physical conditioning gets easier the more you do it 💓

FLOWERS, MY LOVE .ᐟ

„rin.. what are you doing?“

silence, followed by the slight crunching sounds the paper made as he folded it. that’s right.

itoshi rin, sat on the floor of your living room, surrounded by loads upon loads of pastel pink paper, folding it into dozens of little flowers.

you took a step closer, picking up a blossom that was laying astray before examining it closely. it must’ve been one of his first tries.

it’s petals were uneven, with one or two of them bent downwards. overall it looked like it was on the brink of falling apart, disfigured by the way he must’ve haphazardly thrown it on the wooden floor in his frustration of messing it up.

you smiled. he must’ve spend hours on making these, you noted while looking at the bunch to his left, little pastel flowers piling upon another.

you took another step towards him, stopping beside him to examine the flower he was currently crafting.

it looked downright perfect, petals forming a little crown around a little silver gem in the middle of the blossom matching perfectly with the soft pastel pink of the paper.

“are these for me?”

your question seemed to have startled him, the little jump he made upon noticing your presence beside him gave him away.

he turned to look at you, cherry red tinting his cheeks as his eyes washed over with confusion and guilt.

“you’re home early. you weren’t supposed to see them before they’re done.”

you giggled at him. he looked at you embarrassed before turning back to his task at hand. stubborn as ever.

you watched as he turned the flower in his hand, it’s downside facing upwards as he took ahold of the liquid glue, filling it into the small hole on the bottom before carefully closing it with a soft green pipe cleaner.

he gently collected the other flowers beside him, adding the his newest creation into the bunch before tying it tightly with a cream colored ribbon.

your boyfriend took one last look at his masterpiece, handing it to you together with a small note after giving an approving nod and a satisfied hum.

you gratefully accepted the bouquet, hugging it close to your chest while reading the little note.

you smiled. these last few days rin has been feeling guilty every time you said i love you.

you understood tho, knowing full well that some people have difficulties expressing their feelings verbally, especially this early into your relationship.

you turned to look at him again, anticipation and nervousness swimming in those teal orbs of his.

“thank you rinnie.”

i understand. i love you too.

“would you mind repeating yourself?” hyoma asks, turning to you with surprise written in his pearly orbs.

“i asked how your day was?” you repeat.

“no, no that's not what you said.” he raises an eyebrow, confusion still evident in his voice.

“i did though? are you sure you’re not just imagining things? you must be tired.” you seem to be pleased by this outcome, your little amused smile and the counterfeit innocence lacing your words give you away.

hyoma knows you're messing with him, for it’s your favorite pastime, a repetitive cycle he just can’t seem to escape.

“i was sure i heard you say something else..” he trails off, gaze slowly moving back to the gym bag he was about to put on its designated spot.

you're trying your best not to snicker at him, which reveals itself as a quite complex task considering the adorable pinch of his brows and the barely noticeable pout on his lips.

“i have no idea what you're talking about.. ichigo.” you say with a casual shrug of your shoulders.

hyoma shoots you a semi triumphant look, i knew it written all over his face.

he's fully turned to you now, eyes coated over in mild confusion, “tell me. how did you come up with this one?”

“what do you mean?” you chuckle, feigning uncertainty as hyoma could only sigh at your antics.

“you know what i mean. why strawberries?”

“because they taste sweet, just like your kisses do.”, you admit while laughing bashfully.

“huh?”

“i said, because your kisses taste like strawberries. i was eating some earlier this morning and they reminded me of yo-”

“shut up..”, he stops you mid sentence, inching closer within seconds as his palm softly cradles your cheek.

“that’s not nice!”

“quit talking. i’m trying to kiss you.”

“well, i'm trying to talk to you. just wait a minute, you have all the time in the world to kiss me later.”

“you're insufferable.”

“you love that about me tho.”

“right now i’m reconsidering loving you at all.”

you have come to make two revelations over the course of dating itoshi rin.

one, the only time he utters all his secrets and deepest thoughts hidden in the depths of his mind, every i love you he has yet to spill, is at night.

and two, it's also the only time he allows himself to be a little silly. or more like he's not able to keep up his serious façade, tiredness having overtaken both his body and mind.

it has become a weekly occurrence by now, silly thoughts and lovely words whispered into the death of the night, his only witnesses the pearly orb of the night and you.

tonight was no difference. watercolor eyes bathed in the glow of the heavenly body met your droopy ones in a loving, albeit tired stare.

the inky night sky with all it's little gems never looked prettier then now, in the reflection of his eyes.

oh how you loved his eyes, for their shine evokes myriad memories, drowning you in their intensity, speaking of a thousand words and unspoken truths. so many that it didn't need his silent confession for you to know what he was daydreaming about.

i love you

so silent yet significant, tired thought carelessly thrown at you.

not like you minded, for you knew all along, just by taking a glimpse into the pearly mirrors of his soul, loving hues now hidden behind the veil of his lashes.

the sky was aglitter with stars, as though the heavens were trying to distract from the absence of the moon. you had been laying here for a while now, restless, as you stared up into the inky airspace through your open bedroom window.

a series of rhythmic ticks and tocks echoes throughout the starlit room, the sound of time and progress, marking the passing of each moment and hour without him, his absence making you agitated.

it’s way past midnight and normally nanami would be home by now, sleeping soundly next to you as his shallow breaths and silent snores fill the room.

but this isn’t normal, and the empty spot on the untouched sheets to your left serves as a reminder that he is out there, fighting wretched curses for the sake of society, for you.

and yet here you are, complaining about his absence, resting peacefully in your shared bed as he risks his life each night over and over again. how utterly selfish of you.

the sudden buzz of your phone catches your attention, diverting your consciousness from your previous thoughts as you gently lift the vibrating device from your nightstand. your breath hitches before a hasty wave of relief crashes down upon you.

incoming call from nanamin♡

it takes you three rings to pick up, nine seconds before you press the little green button on the screen before the shrill, reverberated rhythm turns into soft breathing on the other end of the line. 

“..you weren’t supposed to pick up”

there’s a pause before he speaks up again, and you know full well that he’s trying really hard to swallow yet another reprimand about bedtime. you chortle silently to yourself at the mental image of his slightly furrowed eyebrows.

he clears his throat before continuing.

“well.. since you picked up i‘m letting you know that i‘ll be gone for a little longer”

you sigh, before muttering a silent “okay”. 

“you know i hate staying away from you too, and working overtime, but i need to get this done beforehand.”

it’s silent again, neither of you dares to speak up for another ten seconds before you hear someone calling your lover's name in the background.

“well.. i guess it’s time for you to-”

“you can’t sleep can you?”

you smile, sheepishly nodding your head as you give a little hum like he can actually see you. 

silence settles upon you two for the nth time tonight and you’re about to bid nanami good night before he unexpectedly starts humming the tunes of ‘you are my sunshine’.

“..you are my sunshine, my only sunshine”

your boyfriend is far from the best singer, that much you know, and it doesn’t help that the way he tries to keep as quiet as possible makes his voice sound way more hoarse than it actually is. 

and yet, there’s something comforting about the way he continues to miss the lullaby's actual rhythm and leaves out certain phrases.

“..you make me happy~ when skies are grey”

it’s ironic, really, how even just this, a tiny scrape of kento nanami, can lull you into the depths of slumber.

and so, you listen on to his little song as his voice slowly starts to grow more distant, the last lines of the song fusing into sole incoherent whispering.
