You wear your best apology, but I was there to watch you leave // Mark & MerDer
It was mid afternoon and Mark wasn’t even sure if they would be home. He had talked himself in and out of turning up on their doorstep so many times in the past few hours that he wasn’t sure whether he was coming or going as he stood, hand hovering over the doorbell. They would be angry, he knew that. It wasn’t like he hadn’t had to handle angry before. He’d slept with Derek’s first wife after all. But this was different. He hadn’t just left. He’d left Lexie and Derek and the people who had become his family without any explanation, without confiding in them what was wrong and he wasn’t sure how he would ever explain how he managed it let alone why. But he couldn’t carry on like this. Alone. He needed the people he had left behind even if they hated him. He had to at least try to get them back. So he took a deep breath and hoisted the presents he’d bought for the kids up in one arm whilst ringing the doorbell with the other.
