On Satoru's relations with the rest of the cast:
I'm usually not a canon character roleplayer but an OC roleplayer. I play Dungeons & Dragons, Warhammer Fantasy, Cyberpunk RED -- lots of TTRPGs -- and I'm not into manga and anime either so I missed out on the initial hype on JJK. I heard about Gojō Satoru and about everyone fawning over him but never found the appeal. I had two attempts at watching the series and he hasn't captured my attention at first so I didn't really understand what the whole fuss was about. Why is he so special and why does the whole fandom adore him?
He grew on me (obviously) but I often asked myself: Why does every other canon character hate him throughout the series?
At first I thought, “Well it must be for comedic relief.” You know these characters, right? Ones that are annoying but everybody loves them anyway despite being irritated by their behavior. To my surprise it wasn't the case with JJK. Satoru Gojō is in fact honestly hated and despised and only acknowledged as the strongest sorcerer with the only characters who openly like him being Yūta and Yūji (and kinda Miwa but mostly behind closed doors).
Just so you guys know -- I hate this approach. I'm down for Satoru being annoying and characters expressing their annoyance with him but to me where I let myself be divergent most (except for his death of course) is where his peers actually like him. That's how I perceived it at first and that's the hill I'm willing to die on. Utahime, Nanami, Ijichi -- they're all more or less friends not only bound by duty but sticking to Satoru despite his obnoxiousness. They. Actually. Like. Each. Other. They just complain about Gojō's behavior a lot. End of story.
