None taken || Naruto and Shikamaru
to relax: (v) to reduce or stop work, effort, application, etc., especially for the sake of rest or recreation; to become less tense, rigid or firm.
That was the goal. That was the reason why Shikamaru's lazy arms were thrown behind his head, while the rest of him was lying on his back on a grassy hillside, attempting to watch the clouds not give a damn.
to attempt: (v) to try; to seek the accomplishment of something.
Attempt, because it wasn't successful. In order for his goal to be accomplished, he needed silence.
silence: (n) absence of any sound or noise; stillness; muteness.
Naruto obviously had no idea what that meant. The word was probably just as uninterested in becoming part of the blonde's vocabulary as the blond himself was in executing the meaning of it. Or maybe not uninterested, just unable.
unable: (adj) lacking the necessary power or competence to accomplish some specified act.
No offence. Shikamaru crooked his lips in annoyance and parted his eyelids just a tat, as if that would somehow make that hyperactive brat stop screaming. None taken, apparently.
to attempt: (v) 2. to attack; to move against in a hostile manner.
Well maybe that's what he should have been doing all along.
