PEOPLE COULD SO EASILY BE LURED INTO A TRAP IF THEY THOUGHT THEY HAD THE UPPER HAND OR IF THEY DID NOT KNOW WHO WAS ENTICING THEM INTO THE DANGER. The early mornings after the masquerade had the former pirate busy and running on little to no sleep with excitement of the night before running through and fuelling every cell inside with an electric energy that pushed through any fatigue. With the warning from Dovey St George planted firmly in Piet’s mind and the words of the society paper providing information on this Mister Das, a man said to seek the ruin of all those associated with the former fiancé that was now a treasured friend of someone that Piet cared deeply for. The first thing to be accomplished after the masquerade was enacted right away. Any and all shipments meant for the Das family were to be put on hold, stowed away under lock and key to draw Nalan Das out.
There was very little doubt Piet had that Mister Das had ever been inside the docks of any kind and while it was an assumption, something rarely made without more information, it was typical of those born from nobility to never set foot inside. It was hours later when the business of the day had quietened that Piet was informed of a disturbance, a man wanting to know where his items were. Given that it was only one family who had this done to them, Piet assumed it was the very man he wanted to meet and went straight to him. “I hear you are unhappy about something and I can hear you causing a scene from the other end of my dock. Mister Das, I presume.” No hand is extended but a stoic expression that was examining to see what type of man this could be. “How good is the timing of your appearance, I was just finishing reading Whistledown and read what happened to you. It looks as if I would not have needed to though, I see the mark from Mister De Vere still shows on your nose.”
