He is trying his best to understand, figure out what all this means, how stealing a heart can make it poisonous... it's a good way to stop someone from doing it, but still.. The idea of it is still a bit scary to him.
“It can heal you, make it so the fire doesn't hurt much... make it so that you are safe... we'll be connected for as long as you wish... I'll feel when you hurt, you'll feel when I hurt... we'll know…”
He looks up at Hayden, knowing he has to be honest with this part.
“It'll hurt... it'll hurt so very much... but... you're my Heartlight and I want you to be well... I am willing to go through the pain if it means you'll be okay, you'll get better. I love you. It's scary, but I want to give you my heart if you'll want it…”
Hayden listens quietly, trying to wrap his mind around all of this. In many ways it sounds like everything he could dream off, on the other hand he didn't want Vy to be in pain.
“So I will be able to feel if you are in pain and you me? how about if one gets sick?”
The worry on his end was that he was sick, if I would feel it, then in his mind it would be horrible.
“ I would love to share a heart with you Vy, it's.. it’s a little scary..” “You'll be able to feel it... It won't make you sick, but you'll feel it... I think... I'm not sure...
He brushes his cheek, his finger drawing circles over Hayden's hand. It felt soothing to have his touch so close to his heart.
“But the heart is strong and it'll give your strength and health. Might not heal you completely but you'll be better. You can go to school, to the shelter. Maybe even sulani, but we'll try to go in the winter! You can try to do sports even, running, swimming, football, and do more D&D sessions. You might able to use your ice magic, just not overdo it. You'll feel... Okay. You can't overdo it too much but you'll be okay. And the heart will be safe. They won't try to take my hearts if I only have one. Do you want to try? It'll hurt. It'll hurt a lot, for both of us. But I am willing to go through it for you.”
Hayden stays quiet for a while, what Vy describes sounds like a dream come true, an almost normal life, something he never even imagined in his wildest dreams. Gently he puts a hand under Vy's cheek.
“I am used to pain, but if you feel what I feel, knowing this body, the shock will make it worse for a while, until your heart gives me enough strength... Do you think it can?” “Yes.”
All that damage that had been done by the fire spell, could it really be helped, it would be nothing but a miracle really. He glances over at his parents. then back at Vy.
“Okay, I already call you my Heartlight, now I can really become it.”
