The historic Woolworth Building's lobby is now open to small groups on a trial basis. Small groups can pre-arrange visits with architect Cass Gilbert's granddaughter through its website. The Woolworth Building is a historic landmark located at 233 Broadway and was the tallest building in the world from 1913-1930. Tours of the building range from 15-minute self-directed tours to tours up to 90-minutes with Anthony Robins, the historian on the subject. The tours began in conjunction with the Skyscraper Museum's exhibit on the Woolworth Building in April 2013 to celebrate the building's centennial. Though the lobby has technically been closed to the public since WWII, the landlord was lax in enforcing the ban on visitors until 9/11, according to Curbed NY. Now, after decades of closure, the architectural gem is open once again. With the top floors being converted to luxury condos, we can't imagine that the lobby will be open to the public for too much longer, so it's probably best to go now while a peek inside only costs $10-$40.
