FIGHT COMICS #12 (April, 1941). Cover by Reed Crandall.
This monster has one of the more messed-up origins I've ever read:
At least the kid didn't remain tied to the wall and starve to death.
The giant eventually catches the attention of the authorities and Rip Regan the Power-Man, a superhero so forgettable he didn't even appear on the cover. They confront the giant, who has made his way to the Panama Canal, and a battle ensues.
I'd probably fall down, too, if someone threw a bomb at my family jewels.
And Rip Regan the Power-Man saves the day once again in a total of five pages!
