'Betty Crocker is supposed to be a wholesome company!'

'Honestly who would have thought?'

'An absolute tragedy!'

These are just some of the comments you've been hearing and reading on social media sites and on your company's main phone line. To think it all started with Jake mentioning in his classroom that the two of you were dating. That was the spark. What happened next was a mass of angry phone calls from close minded mothers to the school. Arguments, complaints, and undignified shouting that led to your boyfriend's employment coming to an end. 

It infuriated you. 

Unfortunately you couldn't do a thing about it aside from comforting Jake. 

And then came the lashing out towards you. Something you, for some reason, didn't actually expect. At first you tried to take it all in with a level head, releasing small statements and articles addressing the matter, asking for your personal life to not be tied with the company. Which was actually quite ridiculous of you considering.

Things just kept getting worse from there. It started to affect your sales, protestors started making it difficult and embarrassing for your employees to come to work. 

The Betty Crocker image was being tarnished. And it was all your fault. That struck a nerve with you. Barely two months in on being the head of the company and this happens? 

Shameful.

Constantly, you were advised to break off the relationship. To think about the company. What would happen if this didn't die down? Got worse? Got extreme? Employees began quitting? 

What if the company was run to the ground?

Questions and thoughts like those is what led you to your decision. The company always came first in your mind and in your, soon to be proven, cold heart. Make it thrive and shine. Be the best. Do anything and everything it took to achieve that.

It was just bad luck on your end that it would cost the man you thought you were starting to love.

Oh well.
