Redparrot on Ao3 has a long, original work series that does a fair bit of looking at the beta experience. The romance is still mostly focused on the AO relationships, but the betas place in the world in examined. In this world, the betas are barely considered people, and it is a fairly dark series, but I've rather enjoyed it and some of the world building around the betas.

My dumbass father ran out and not only BOUGHT new shrubs but planted them because he’s a dipshit who doesn’t know plants. And I, the person who used to SELL THE FUCKING PLANTS was like hey buddy this is a Bad Idea you shouldn’t plant anything until after last frost and he’s like “no it’s fine they’re frost hardy” like NOT WHEN IT’S NEW, BITCH. The roots aren’t established!! And so then he puts plastic trash bags over them in lieu of a frost cover and the next morning I’m like bud you have to take the bags off or the plant will boil and suffocate in there.

Him: “It’s 45 out there they won’t boil.” uh no you put a plastic bag over them, it’s gonna be hot and moist in that bag, the plants will die if you leave that on when the sun is up. So THEN he made a point of giving me the cold shoulder and not responding to anything I said, but went out later and tossed burlap on them. but then he heard about the snow and yesterday he put tarps on them which have been up for two days now so uh yeah ain’t no sunlight getting to those poor bastards.

All could have been circumvented if he’d just WAITED TO PUT THE PLANTS IN THE GROUND.

like for real I have geraniums that are turning two this year that live in my dining room and go outside in the summer and they are still alive because you just DON’T PUT THEM OUT UNTIL AFTER LAST FROST

So lucky! My beloved Bruins aren't broadcasting tonight's game. And for some reason, the channel that is supposed to have the Capitals game is playing the Flyers instead. And the Center Ice program hasn't started yet, so I can't watch the other games. Guess I'll continue my Criminal Minds marathon and watch the gamecenter results.

I’m honestly stunned that the Sabres are finding ways to broadcast all of this preseason’s games. Like, stunned. They used to show none of them. Then they would borrow broadcasts from, say, Toronto only, so you could see the (usually two) Toronto preseason games against the Sabres, but using entirely Toronto’s feed including play-by-play and in-game promotions. They would send our guys to do radio broadcast but that was it. Then they started maybe doing their own broadcast just for the last game of the preseason.

But to say four out of six games will be on tv (in one form or another, wouldn’t be shocked if they borrowed broadcasts again but I’ll take it over nothing), and then for the other two “oh we’ll just stream it online”????? MY BUFFALO SABRES, GOING OUT OF THEIR WAY TO MAKE SURE FANS CAN SEE THE PRESEASON GAMES????

Or showed you whether you had read something before or not (even just a manual flagging system with: read, read later, don't wanna read, and unflagged). I read way too much to remember every fic I've read, and it sucks getting halfway through a fic with all the right tags, only to realize I've already read it.

If your viewing history is on (it’s in your Preferences tab), then it’ll show how many times you’ve viewed fics before. It’s not super useful if you’re already halfway through something, but if you’re putting it off for later, you’ll see it in your history how many times you’ve viewed it before.

Turning on your Viewing History should also activate your Marked Later. There’s really no way to exclude fics unless you exclude via tags.

There weren’t really any wolves there! It was literally Just William Karlsson I’m pretty sure, I know he’s he only one on the wolf list now. I can double check last season’s roster but I’m pretty sure it was just him.

If you want to know who’s presently in a pack the wolf list is still updated and is linked on the wolves page on my blog. So even if I don’t write about other teams you can see who’s in their pack. (Also for reals when did I talk about the Pittsburgh pack in a fic recently this feels fake, I feel like I would remember that cringe.)

Yeah, I noticed a few days ago that Tumblr makes all of my fics illegible on mobile. The process I have to go through to get it not to do that is absolutely insane so I’m not doing it. Everyone’s just going to have to open an internet browser if they want to read them, sorry guys.

That seems to be the constant struggle with trying to give prompts (or while beta reading for me ). We want to make prompts/suggestions that are vague enough so we don't stifle the author's creativity but they can end up so vague that they can't work as a muse. But then if the prompts are too detailed, it's basically a headcanon or a mini-fic. Though I've seen those spark authors imaginations and then they write full fics based off of a super detailed mini-fic prompt.

That’s true, sometimes super-specific prompts are hard to write if there’s no wiggle room, but if I got one of those I might just use part of it. And I have written long fics based off of other peoples’ ideas before. It’s just that for the sake of the wolf AU someone saying “write x team” is the equivalent of just sending someone a prompt saying “hey write about the Flames.” Like, okay, write what? What were you hoping to see?

Regardless, I had a few ideas sent to me so I’m just going to pick one and that’s that. Thank you all for trying to help me out.

But if you are out of ideas, no need to strain. I good with waiting until you have an idea that you like!

The issue is just that (when I am in the business of taking prompts) I sometimes get prompts that are so vague that I really don’t know what to do with them. With the wolf fics, it’s usually “will you write something more about X team?” I know a while back I had one asking if I would write more about Luongo and the Flanthers pack, to which I said the same thing I’m saying now - sure, if I had something more to go on!  I’m not averse to writing more (of the Panthers or of the Sabres pack), but I don’t have any ideas for them, so unless someone has a specific suggestion idk what more to do.
