Inuit Cecil greeting Carlos with a kunik, Carlos teaching Cecil what a Vulcan kiss is.
Every time Cecil returns from re-education, he always gently runs his fingertips along Carlos' extended index and middle fingers, emphasizing that he's still there, that he's still alright, and that he is back.
Night Vale headcanon 1: Carlos is just as awkward and twitterpated as Cecil, when they're together. How else do you explain "thinking is part of what a scientist does"? Night Vale headcanon 2: people do move to Night Vale. Most of them run away very fast, but some stick around. Because despite the constant threat of occult terror and death, it's not a bad place. The people are nice and no one judges. Also Big Rico's is AMAZING.

My favorite headcanon is that most of the people in night vale come from the outside and are drawn there for some reason, like Carlos or You (in the episode about “you"). That’s how the town repopulates itself despite the high mortality
Ooo, I haven't heard this one before! It makes so much sense though, because of course Night Vale would be exactly the kind of place to draw in loners and outcasts. Everyone in the town is their own kind weird but they're all still accepted exactly as they are, without fear and without judgement of any kind. So even if there is a...um...strangely high death toll (why do I love towns with high mortality rates I'm looking at you Sunnydale) people still migrate there anyway because it's so worth the risk.
(that being said I also really like the idea that a lot of the people in Night Vale are total natives and have never lived anywhere else because how else would they be so blase about all the weird shit that happens there?)

i know a lot of people share this one: cecil is actually a disembodied voice when no ones around but when people look at him they see whatever they expect to see, meaning everyone’s headcanon for his appearance is correct for them personally
I really really like this one, but I also like the idea that Cecil is actually just a perfectly ordinary, boring, kinda petty normal guy. While I love seeing all the creative and fantastically amazing art that has him with moving tattoos and a third eye and shit, I really like the idea that he is an ordinary human observing all the madness and the reason that it doesn't seem to bother him because for him it's just...normal. idk, I think it plays into the idea of exploring how adaptive and flexible people can be if they just let themselves roll with stuff, and how willing people are to accept things if they're in the right frame of mind.
Also Cecil is just a normal human idiot who doesn't believe in mountains or know what the moon is because wow flawed school system and I love it
