Casna: "I have so many problems that could also be yours. If you're a murderer, I have a few people that need killing and could use some tips. If I can't do at least three full squats with you on my back, I will pay for dinner."

Thalia: "I have no idea what's going on and I never will. I have never had a haircut in my entire life, and I consider this to be my greatest accomplishment. If you don't believe in aliens, you will after going on a date with me."

Wolf: "To be completely honest, I'm mostly just looking for a free meal."

Going back to an old, old Pathfinder campaign I did with my online buddies a couple years ago. I played an Elven werewolf ranger, who has now been upgraded into an Elven werewolf arcane hunter.

And of course they're as pretty as ever 🌙✨

In D&D news, Wolf is on the verge of adopting a little goblin girl the gang just rescued. They used their wood crafting skills to make her a prosthetic arm but now they’re like, “...dad time.”

🍂 Does your OC enjoy hugs? What do they do as a show of affection for: their friends, their family, their significant other(s) or for strangers? Over all what are they like with receiving affection from others?

Wolfie is naturally a very touchy feely person, but they’re incredibly awkward about it because they’ve had such limited social interaction over the last, uh... *checks watch* ...ten or so decades. Knowing they can’t just walk up and touch someone, but also having no idea how to gracefully ask permission, their brand of affection typically comes in the form of gift-giving. 

Most of the time it’s a flower, a pretty rock, an interesting (non-poisonous!) mushroom, the broken off fletching of an arrow they made, or some other small trinket they thought was neat. Close friends get little wood carvings, which are usually animal figurines. If it’s someone Wolf truly, deeply loves, they’ll give them something very valuable that was once theirs. 

I have this plan where, if they do end up finding romance in this campaign, their way of saying “hey I love you, please be my person?” would be giving them the matching half of their earring.

Overall, Wolf is a silly mess who doesn’t fully know how to express themselves, but goddamn do they have a lot of love to give. 

🌿 What way does your OC show that they care without using words? What way do others show your OC that they’re cared about without using speech?

Funny you should mention that! In our campaign, our healer is a literal gentle giant who is completely deaf, and besides Ragna he is probably the closest thing Wolf has ever come to a true best friend. They communicate with sign language, but they’ve known each other for so long they’re almost able to like...feel what the other is wanting to say. 

Because of this, despite all the awkwardness, Wolf has become remarkably good at sensing when people need a little cheering up, and they do so by silently gifting them a wee something. 

...most of the time, it’s a pretty rock.

F: Fun 1.) What do they do for fun?

Besides their woodworking and their tavern haunting, Wolf really likes to swim. Every day during the summer months, they spend a couple hours at it before laying out to bake in the sun. 

They also frequently go out and patrol the woods to disarm animal traps, as well as scare off bandits and sport hunters by pretending to be a wailing, angry ghost. Watching these guys shit themselves while running is a great deal of fun for them. 

2.) What is their ideal party?

Something chill with a few people. Card games at the tavern that you eventually forget because you’re having too much fun telling stories would be a lovely time for Wolf. 

3.) Who would they have the most fun with?

Ragna. She is their partner in crime, after all. 

4.) Can they have fun while conforming to rules?

Certainly. Wolfie doesn’t care for stirring up trouble. 

5.) Do they go out a lot?

Twice a week usually, sometimes thrice if they have a lot to sell. 

O: Optimism 1.) Are they optimistic or pessimistic?

Wolfie’s a pretty good mix of both, really. Often times they go in prepared for the worst with the hope that they’ll be pleasantly surprised. 

2.) Are they openly optimistic, throwing it on others?

Not really. They’ll encourage someone if they see they’re visibly upset, but unless they’re pretty close to the person, they tend to just leave folks alone. 

3.) Are they good at giving advice?

Shockingly, yes. There’s a deep well of knowledge in simple country wisdom. 

4.) Is there anyone in their life that throws optimism on them?

Not really. 

5.) Were they always optimistic?

Not at all. Their younger years were a really tough period in their life. Finding the means to control their lycanthropy really picked them up out of a dark place.

C: Comfort 1.) How do they sit in a chair?

Like all gays, they are physically incapable of sitting in a chair correctly. 

2.) In what position do they sleep?

They sleep in a hammock, and they’re a bit of a flailer. Their arms and legs tend to just flop out and hang. If they’re sleeping with a person, they’re the clingiest of cuddlers. 

3.) What is their ideal comfort day?

As long as they got to work on their projects and enjoy a smoke and a drink at their local tavern in peace, that’s good enough for them. Wolf is a very simple person with simple pleasures. 

4.) What is their major comfort food? Why?

Venison jerky. It’s easy to make, can be as salty as they want, and the chewiness of it feels good on their teeth. Plus they can carry loads of it and snack all day. 

5.) Who is the best at comforting them when down?

Their animal companion, an especially clever female raven named Ragna. She’s their most favorite person in all the world. 

P: Personality 1.) What is their best personality trait?

They’re such an incredibly easy-going, genuine person that you can’t help but feel soothed in their presence. Whether you’re listening to their stories or just watching them shape wood, they do their best to make anyone in their company feel at ease.

2.) What is their worst personality trait?

Their self-doubt is so crippling, they’re completely blind to the fact they could be doing some real good with all the skills they have. They’re stuck in this “I’m just one person, what could I possibly do?” mentality, and it’s wasting their potential. 

3.) What of their personality do others love?

The villagers that live near their woods certainly like how dedicated they are to their craft, but they know so little of them beyond that it’s impossible to tell if they love anything about them. 

4.) What of their personality do others envy?

I don’t know if anyone would envy Wolfie’s personality. Maybe the laid-back charisma they have going on. 

5.) Do they hate anything about their personality/about other’s personalities?

They want so badly to reach out and form deep, fulfilling relationships with people and do some real good in the world, but again, they’re stuck in this terrible mentality of “What could I do? What good could I offer? I’m just a simple person, what’s so great about me?” 

Wolf has this horribly contradictory personality of being incredibly honest with others, but lying to themselves over and over again. 

ABCs of Your OCs

Some folks seemed interested in the new OC I was babbling about last night, so I figured it was time I did a rambling introduction post for the latest D&D disaster, Wolf.

To summarize their backstory, Wolf was the child of a highly respected merchant that worked closely with the nobility. They were very young when they were attacked by a werewolf, and after several months of trying to control their full moon berserker rage, they ended up accidentally hurting someone. Their father, desperate for a solution, agreed to give them up to a “mysterious benefactor” who assured him they would be taken care of and even taught magic. This benefactor was actually one of the BBEGs, who essentially turned them into her bodyguard and a symbol of her power. After several decades of this, they escaped with the help of their mentor, eventually finding a small village full of other outcasts that agreed to shelter them.

They picked up archery, tracking, and wood carving as a way to discipline themselves, honing these skills and their self control over the course of a several decades. They are now capable of transforming into their wolf form while retaining most of their natural calm.

The villagers have only ever referred to them as “the hermit”, “the wood carver”, or “the wolf.” No one knows their real name because they’ve never actually asked, and Wolf doesn’t really talk much whenever they pay a visit.

Everyone is fully aware they are a werewolf, but they became pretty fine with it when they started noticing that A.) their village was never attacked, B.) the number of predators that preyed on their livestock were suddenly decreasing, and C.) bandits were avoiding the village like the plague. Plus, they didn’t want to run out the person who makes such nice rocking chairs. 

Wolf mainly visits the village to get supplies and sell whatever project they’ve finished, but it’s not uncommon to see them in the local tavern at night. They like listening to stories and songs while they nurse a pint, and no one ever bothers them. 

Despite how quiet they usually are, Wolf is actually an incredibly friendly, cheerful person. It’s so difficult to get them angry, no living being has ever seen it because they’ve literally outlived anyone who has. 

The pictures above don’t show it, but they have three claw mark scars that runs across their right eye, plus many more on their back and chest, and the tip of their right ear is torn off. They also have a tattoo of a flowering vine on their left arm.

Their wolf form is that of a bipedal gray wolf that stands at around 7′ 6″ (228 cm). Their normal height is 6′ 4″ (194 cm)

They are nonbinary and bisexual

They don’t know how to flirt because they’ve never really tried to. Send help.

As much as they love working with wood, their favorite hobbies are napping in their hammock and smoking their pipe while they think their thoughts. They also frequently patrol the area to remove animal traps and scare off sport hunters.
