Wednesday, June 26: Wolfbrigade, "Dead Cold"

“Dead Cold” began with the sort of fun rollin’ and rockin’ power chord slam and groove that didn’t really point to one subgenre over another, but then the d-beats burst in to set up the gurgled and belched vocals and Wolfbrigade established the tune firmly in the crust punk zone.  It honestly added an element of silliness that was likely not entirely intentional, and in some ways detracted from the awesomeness of the intro.  But at the same time, this was exactly what the Swedish act was aiming for, and on that level “Dead Cold” played up the overlap between crust and the death n’ roll of classic Entombed to generally strong effect.
