Today I found out about a project to help document firefly populations in North America called the Firefly Atlas, which is aiming to decrease the number of species that are data deficient + gather more information about a number of at-risk firefly species. It's been ongoing since 2022 and is open to the public to contribute to!

I thought this was very cool and since I know you have a lot of bug-enjoyers in your audience, maybe you'd be interested in spreading the word?

(I'd include the site in this ask, but I'm not sure if Tumblr eats asks with those included, so I'll include it in another ask to be safe. You can also probably find it by looking up "firefly atlas")

Hey, could you go more into detail about the relationships between handlers and hunters? I feel like I missed something. Why do hunters need handlers? If this is supposed to be vague just ignore me lmao

i answered this a million years ago here !!

despite being an old answer it's mostly still accurate to current worldbuilding. i do intend to edit the prologue a bit and expand on the order & the vel to make things more clear, i just... haven't gotten around to it.... lol

basically the handlers are just there to act as a liaison between the hunter & and people outside of the order, essentially a "diplomat". if you go with lea in blackwater you can see this a little bit, if you choose to let lea talk to hawkell, and then later as well with duncan (though it's less successful with him). they also work as support for the hunter, either providing potions, healing, or magic, etc

i will add as a little footnote that all of the information about the order we've learned so far (including what's on the blog) is from a hunter's perspective. handlers do have another role beyond what's been discussed & that is outside of the hunter's knowledge.

we'll get to learn more in chapter two :-)

thank you so much for your interest! im adjusting my prices for the next batch of commissions im taking but havent settled on the specific amounts yet - im opening up the google form for them this sunday (the 15th) though so the information will be there then! at the moment halfbodies are 60eu and fullbodies 80eu for a rough indication

ive gotten more people recently asking about commission status/rates so i will see about getting a pinned post up about them 🤔
