wolfishcatelyn said: This sounds incredible. I know when I did A-Level Class Civ I was lamenting the lack of an Aeneid adaptation, and more to the point an adaptation that wasn’t all popularised, and now I want it more than ever! It would be brilliant. You've got tragic love, an epic quest, battles, a hero confronting his destiny, manipulation by higher powers, travel into a fantasy world (the Underworld), difficult decisions, beautiful princesses, prophecy, political wrangling... And of course if this is the third part of a trilogy then you can connect it to the previous two by the meddling of the Gods and the world of Olympus which is a unifying factor and it can deconstruct the previous two stories by showing what happened to the conquered after the Odyssey was about the Greeks. Perhaps there could even be at the beginning a section showing the fates of the other Trojans, taken from Euripides' Trojan Women and so on. Just SO much potential!
wolfishcatelyn said: Oh I really really want this so much! I know! I've wanted it for so long. It wouldn't try to turn it into history (?!) like Troy did or be filled with cheesy dialogue and special effects like an 80s B movie, but would take everything at face value and have the gods and magic and be filled with battles and romance and monsters and fate and tragedy and comedy and beautiful scenery and detailed research on costumes and weaponry and in depth involvement in the background mythology, really fleshing out the stories. It could start with the judgement of Paris and end with the founding of Rome. Can you imagine the scenes on Olympus? Visualising Odysseus' journey? Aeneas' journey to the Underworld? It's cinematic magic. And unlike something like LotR (which I'm currently watching haha) it has the potential for amazing female characters as well as male - Helen, Andromache, Hecuba, Penelope, Nausicaa, Dido, and Lavinia among the mortals and Hera, Athena, Aphrodite, Artemis, Circe, and Calypso among the immortals. IT WOULD JUST BE SO GOOD AND HAS SO MUCH POTENTIAL. I genuinely don't get why nobody's done it yet, and done it well. lainwen said: dunno if i can handle sean bean surviving to a movie It would keep up the suspense though, surely? Because nobody would expect him to survive and in the end he's one of the only heroes of the war to do so! acupofchar said: I’ve always wondered how they could make the end of the Odyssey accurately without making it nc-17 bc that is very gorey O.0 Gah yes though a good version of those three is all I’ve ever wanted <3 I think it could be done without being an 18. It just depends on what exactly they show and what they leave to the imagination and where exactly they cut of. How are we casting this beyond Sean Bean? I struggle with casting Helen of Troy because she's meant to be the most beautiful woman in the world and obviously that means something different to everyone. She's also meant to be fair which is very unusual for a Greek complexion. So okay, she needs to be blonde, but she also needs to be more than a pretty, blonde actress, if that makes sense. She has to have a je ne sais quoi - a presence.

Okay, THAT WAS AMAZING! So worth the wait! :D
Woohoo! I'm so glad that you're pleased. I labored over that name. That's half the reason why it took me so long. That and I knew that my descriptions of labor would be awful. (Just pretend like it takes like hours and not minutes.) So yeah. Glad you enjoyed it!
