Also, I realized that I never clarified lol but the au is still in the works. Me and wolfy decided we’d like to wait until the fic is finished before we start posting it. As for the estimated length, I’d put it at 50k+ words rn. Even tho it’ll take longer to write, you guys will get a much more thorough story and juicier scenes hehe. Good things come to those who wait.

🩸 Hamartophobia (vampire/priest AU) snippet

George sees his fear, a light sparking in his retinas at the recognition. “You promised me blood, priest,” the creature states with hungry eyes. Dream swallows, his grip tightening around the pen in his hand. Indeed he had, and every nerve in his body is telling him it was a mistake.

“I did,” Dream responds tightly. The vampire skulks closer and Dream instinctively pulls back. George stops, eyes roving again.

George blinks calmly, watching the sweat drip from his neck. “I swear on my life that you will live.”

Dream clutches his book closer to his chest. “I don’t believe you.” He sounds small.

George huffs, “Then why did you agree to this? You think I haven’t also risked my life coming here—more so than you, actually.”

“I…” His heart is thudding in his chest.

The vampire raises his hand, slowly, like a stranger to a stray. “The bite on your neck. It’s healed well.” Dream automatically covers the scarring skin protectively. “I will be clean. I will be gentle this time.” His voice grows quiet, placid, and it’s so different from what Dream knew. “Give me your arm,” he says softly, palm raised. The curve of his nails and fingers look angelic in the moon’s glow, a lovely distraction from the death they could bring. “Put the book down, Dream. It will be alright.” Dream watches red among the white marble of stone and somehow believes him. It felt so wrong to be soothed by such a vile tongue.

But vampires were born to be charming. They were born to lie. This was a ruse and it was the risk Dream was willing to take.

“Okay,” he forces out. The priest lays the book on the floor and quietly rolls up the sleeve of his left arm. George holds his palm up further, not reaching but waiting. Dream takes a deep breath, fingers trembling, and rests his arm in the vampire’s hold.

George visibly deflates, shoulders relaxing as he carefully moves further forward, his other hand sliding to rest atop Dream’s forearm. Dream shivers at the cold touch.

“Relax, father.” The creature’s breath skims his skin. “You’re too good to waste.” Dream holds his breath. George lowers down to his arm, gripping firmly with both hands. “This may sting.” His mouth opens, pink lips framing white teeth and sinks down.
