Nails

pete always had long nails. not like long long nails but long enough that you could see a few millimeters of the white part of the nail. he always took good care of them and made sure to get the dirt and stuff outta them every night since he got dirt under them in herbology etc

sirius always had short nails but they always had his chipped black nail polish on them and his hands were always decked out in rings and drawings remus had done on them when he was bored so you could never call his hands boring

remus always kept his nails short. it started off with his parents cutting them short in the hopes of them not growing as long on the full moon but over the years he found that if they were long and scratchy he felt dangerous and they reminded him of the wolf so he made sure they were always short. they also sometimes had nail polish on them because lily loved painting his nails while he was reading. she would often paint little flowers or moons or stars on them and remus didn’t want to admit it but he found it endearing.

james had really nice nails, like it wasn’t even intentional like pete, they were just naturally nice. he used to have them similar length to pete’s but he began keeping them short coz of quidditch after he had his nail stab into his broom and got a bad splinter. they were pretty much always bare other than that time in seventh year when james convinced lily to paint tiny snitches on his nails after he saw her painting remus’ nails.
