'Kurisa Moya' loosely translates as 'Place of Tranquil Spirits', & it is easy to see why when you wander within the verdant heart of this swathe of Indigenous forest. Situated near #haenertzberg & teetering on the edge of the escarpment, #Magoebaskloof is often blanketed in fog, and boasts a higher rainfall (& more temperate climate) than the simmering Lowveldt. . . This #nature paradise rated as our 6th provincial stop on the @isuzusa #BeyondLockdown Expedition & is arguably the region resonating most with my personal quest to slow life down. Middle-earthy woods & the mist-shrouded #Wolkberg entice you to kick off your shoes, sit back on a moss-covered log, & bathe in the deep-forest #oZone 🍃 . . Inside these ancient woods, a giant cussonia tree stands rooted to the earth. It is estimated at approximate 2000 years of age,which means this ancient kiepersol has outlived empires and dynasties, and you can sense the passing of the ages when you kneel amidst its gnarled roots. . . . We were fortunate to have @davidletsoalobirder of @birdlife_sa as our guide, adding immeasurably to our experience. And then of course there are the beautiful locals of @wegraakbosch Organic Cheese Farm & the incredibly talented @mountain_foodies, who laid on a delectable #slowfood feast to fuel our forest #trailruns, #mtb rides & icy #Letaba river swims . .
